We want to share an important reminder as Kentucky prepares for upcoming weather conditions.

Please take time now to help keep your home and family safe. A few simple steps can make a big difference.

BASIC HOME SAFETY TIPS:
Secure loose outdoor items such as trash cans, patio furniture, and decorations.

Check that windows and doors are closed and locked.

Keep emergency supplies together in an easy to reach place, including flashlights, batteries, medications, water, and nonperishable food.

Charge phones, medical devices, and backup batteries ahead of time.

If you rely on electricity for medical equipment, plan for a possible power outage.

During cold weather, keep sinks open and allow faucets to drip slightly to help prevent frozen pipes.

Cover exposed pipes with insulating foam if available.

Block drafts at doors and windows using blankets or towels to help keep warm air inside.

If you NEED HELP with food, shelter, utility assistance, or other community resources, you can dial 211. The 211 service is available across Kentucky and can connect you to local support. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing an emergency, call 911 right away.

Please check on neighbors, friends, and family members who may need extra support, including older adults and people with disabilities.

Stay safe and take care AND BE BLESSED!.
