🏕️ Flaget Trail Campout Weekend – Catholic Committee on Scouting
What a great weekend of Scouting, fellowship, faith, and history at this year’s Flaget Trail Campout, held on the beautiful grounds of the Sisters of Loretto in Kentucky.
One of the highlights of the weekend was learning about the early Catholic history of Kentucky and the development and growth of the Catholic Church throughout the Commonwealth. The Sisters shared some of their history and the important role the Loretto community has played in Kentucky’s Catholic heritage.
Our Scouts and leaders also had the opportunity to walk through the museum, where we learned more about the history and ministry of the Sisters of Loretto. We then explored the grounds, following the walking paths through the historic cemetery and surrounding property. It was a unique opportunity to see firsthand a place that has been part of Kentucky’s Catholic story for generations.
The Flaget Trail Campout continues to be a wonderful way to bring together Scouting and our Catholic faith, while giving our young people an opportunity to learn, explore, build friendships, and better understand the history of their faith here in Kentucky.
A special thank you to the Sisters of Loretto for their hospitality and for sharing their history and beautiful grounds with us, and to the Catholic Committee on Scouting, volunteers, and Scout leaders who helped make this weekend possible.
