Construction on the new University of Louisville Health Sciences Center is underway, ushering in a new era for healthcare in Louisville.

The space is designed to advance education with state-of-the-art facilities, allowing students to receive the hands-on-training they need to continue bettering healthcare in Louisville and beyond.

Take an evening stroll with LOUMED!

On April 22nd from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., we’re joining OFW Louisville for their Night Walk series. We'll meet at LOUMED Commons, explore new developments in the area, and discuss ways to increase a sense of safety, usability, and belonging.

These walks aim to find ways to help everyone feel safer and more aware on the streets, especially women walking at night.

It’s important to be able to lean on your community while navigating hardships.

That’s why LOUMED is partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana - RMHCK and Riverside Transportation Services to provide shuttle services to and from the Ronald McDonald House and facilities in the LOUMED district.

The shuttle will operate Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., allowing families staying at the house to reach their medical appointments with ease.

Mayor Craig Greenberg joined LOUMED leaders and our project partners, Pace Contracting and Gresham Smith, at today’s press conference marking the start of the Chestnut Street Improvement Project.

This initiative strives to create a safer, healthier and more welcoming street for the employees, students and patients visiting our district. This includes expanding sidewalks, increasing greenery and adding seating areas.

At the 2026 State of the Downtown hosted by Downtown LOU, renowned urban planner Jeff Speck highlighted the undeniable benefits of pedestrian-friendly city design.
