UNA-Louisville... works towards building local citizen support for a healthy and constructive U.S. Our chapter works to educate and advocate the importance of the UN in our lives through outreach at local schools, churches and community centers, the local media, local civic and cultural organizations, and advocacy with local, state, and federal elected officials. We achieve these efforts by providing materials, speakers and presentations by foreign policy experts, essay contests, exhibits and programs on UN issues, as well as local programs on key global issues, such as climate change, environmental protection, the Mideast peace crisis, human trafficking, torture, international health, peacekeeping, and human rights.

Host, United Nations Association of the USA Kentucky Division, and Chapters in Frankfort, Bluegrass/Lexington and Louisville are partnering with Rotary Club of Louisville and Rotary Club of Louisville Suburban, Rotary District 6710 and Rotary Club of Frankfort plus League of Women Voters of Louisville and American Association of University Women Louisville Branch to educate and save lives of youths; however, sextortion can happen to anyone of any age or gender.

The event will celebrate and highlight advocates and policymakers who worked to pass SB73 which made sextortion a crime. Sextortion is a form of exploitation that occurs when a person obtains sexually explicit images of an individual and threatens to release them unless their demands (monetary, sexual, or other requests) are met.

We are saddened to share the passing of Richard Beliles, who was long-time member and leader in our organization! Richard was an attorney who used his career to advance the work of social justice and civic engagement. His dedication to the UNA-USA, Common Cause, Wayside Christian Mission and many other organizations will extend well beyond his life! We are grateful for his many contributions, and we will miss him dearly!
