Keystone Learning Academy The organization was formed from humble beginnings in the basement of the Community Action Agency in the California neighborhood of Louisville at 1600 West St.

Formerly known as California Area Family Development Center, KLA's vision is to help all children build educational, emotional and physical growth through the "Reggio Emilia" approach to learning, which views ALL children as capable and competent leaders! Keystone Learning Academy is an independent non-profit agency offering year round child care services for children ages 6 weeks - 12 years throu

gh our Infant & Toddler, Preschool, and School Age programs. We are accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs and licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Keystone Learning Academy was originally founded in 1970 as the California Area Family Development Center. Catherine Street. Its purpose then was to provide safe and loving child care to families in need. Although the Center has grown, relocated and is now know as the Keystone Learning Academy, those founding principles remain.

The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for a classroom of children 0 to 3 years of age in a child care center. The EHS Teacher will work collaboratively with his/her partner Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 6-8 children. The EHS Teacher, along with families and colleagues, works to achieve meaningful progress of each child along his/her own unique developmental path and toward Greater Louisville Head Start school readiness goals.

Welcome Back Keystone Families!

Keystone Learning Academy will reopen Monday June 15th. Because of the new guidelines from Licensing and Regulations, the same teachers will remain with the same group of 10 children all day. In order to stay in compliance with this new regulation, KLA’s new operating hours will be Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:30pm.
Drop off and pick up will occur outside the front entrance of the building. We ask that all parents and authorized adults wear face masks during these times. Upon arrival, Keystone staff will welcome your child, take their temperature, ask how your child’s been feeling and screen for any visible symptoms of Covid-19. KLA staff will then sign your child in and es**rt them to their classroom. During pickup, please ring the doorbell and a KLA staff member will retrieve your child from their classroom and bring them outside to be signed out. Please remember to keep 6 feet of distance between each other and staff members during drop off and pick up.
