It's and we're here to set the record straight.

Cornea donation is a gift made after death, and donated corneal tissue can restore sight to someone living with corneal blindness, advance ocular research of eye diseases and blindness, and be used in education and training to help future eye bankers.

At EBKY, we're proud to help make the gift of sight possible, and in just 3 weeks, you can support this work during Give for Good Louisville!

August is all about Multiethnic Donor Awareness! 💙💚

This month, we recognize organ donors, their families, organ donation recipients, and communities from a broad range of backgrounds who make the gift of life, sight, and healing possible.

At EBKY, we know that donation is a mission that connects us all. Diversity in donation, celebrating the generosity found within our communities, and continuing conversations that help build awareness and trust around cornea donation are at the forefront of our mission.

Give for Good Louisville is 5 weeks away! ⭐️
For over 60 years, eye banking in Kentucky has had the honor of restoring sight, supporting donor families, and serving communities through the gift of corneal donation.
As our community continues to learn more about the donation process, one thing remains constant: the generosity of donors and their families continues to bring hope, healing, and the gift of sight to others every single day.
Today, EBKY is proud to carry on this historical mission, but we need your help to ensure our life-changing work continues. Happy Work Anniversary, Mariah! 🎉

Since joining our team in August 2020, Mariah has grown into an invaluable leader as our Clinical Staff Development Coordinator, where she helps train and mentor our eye bank technicians while ensuring our clinical team has the knowledge and support they need to succeed.

In her tenure, Mariah has achieved many milestones while at EBKY including earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, her CEBT certification, and contributing to a groundbreaking research study led by Case Western Reserve University in 2025 which explores the impact of diabetes on corneal transplant success. Mariah's commitment to lifelong learning, professional growth, and advancing the field of eye banking reflects the passion she brings to our mission every day. It is incredibly rewarding to have her on our team and know that her contributions and achievements are improving the outcomes for corneal transplant recipients every day!

Thank you, Mariah, for your leadership, expertise, and dedication to restoring sight. Your impact reaches far beyond our walls and we're grateful to have you on the EBKY team.

We moved!📦

EBKY is excited to announce that our Louisville office has officially moved into its new home in the Hurstbourne Office Park at 9115 Leesgate Road!

This new space gives us the opportunity to continue to grow, collaborate, and better serve our partners, donor families, and the patients who depend upon the life-changing gift of sight from cornea donation.

Stay tuned for updates on our new space- we look forward to welcoming everyone to our new home in the months to come!

Whether you're going for a walk, riding your bike, working in the yard, or spending the day by the water, your eyes are exposed to harmful UV rays.
Wearing sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays is one of the easiest ways to help protect your vision.
This UV Safety Month, don't forget to protect your eyes- your future self will thank you!

It's and we're reminding everyone that cornea donors can restore sight to two people!
Oftentimes, corneal replacement surgery happens one eye at a time, so it is very rare for both corneas from a donor to go to one recipient.
When you register as an organ donor you have the opportunity to double your gift of sight, and we find that simply amazing!
