Hardin County Deputy Sheriff’s FOP Lodge #101 is gearing up for our annual Golf Scramble, and we are currently seeking monetary donations and items for our silent auction!

Proceeds from the scramble help support two causes that mean so much to our Lodge and community:

🎄 Cops & Kids Christmas — helping provide a special Christmas for local children in need.

🎓 Kevin Johnson Memorial Scholarship — honoring Kevin’s memory by investing in the future of local students.

We are looking for gift cards, merchandise, gift baskets, services, experiences, or any other items that could be auctioned. Monetary donations of any amount are also greatly appreciated!

J. Hunter Newton (March 1996 – August 2026)

Jeffrey Hunter Newton, 30 of Louisville passed away on August 3, 2026

He was born in Louisville in 1996 to Jeffrey and Jeri Newton. Hunter attended Trinity Catholic School before following in his parents’ footsteps and joining the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department.

Throughout his career with the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department, Hunter approached every shift with integrity and heart. Known for his steady presence and willingness to step forward when others stepped back, he embodied the very best of public service.

Whether he was responding to a crisis, mentoring younger officers, or simply checking in on a neighbor, he carried himself stoically, with humility and purpose. He was an extremely important member of his squad and community, willing to give
what was necessary to protect both.

Hunter was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill Pezzarossi, Marcella and Herbert Newton, and is survived by his parents Jeffrey and Jeri, and his brother Nick.

A private service for family will be held at 8am at Southeast Christian followed by an FOP service at 9am.

The Family of Officer Newton has requested any donations made in memory of Officer Newton be sent to The Louisville Metro Police Foundation

We had a wonderful evening on Tuesday as we awarded our annual scholarships to graduating seniors. We were honored to have several of the families for whom the scholarships are named with us to present them.

Congratulations to all of our recipients! We wish you the very best in your future endeavors and may God bless you as you pursue your dreams!
