Registration is open for our After-School Chess Academy at the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) Satellite Office.

Under the instruction of master chess instructor Corbin Seavers, the After-School Chess Academy will allow JCPS students who are interested in chess to compete, learn, and grow as chess players

The program runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and is open to Middle, and High School age students.

Mornings with Moms is a fantastic program that aims to offer joy and support to Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) students at the beginning of their day. With the help of moms and community volunteers, students from different schools receive a warm welcome, setting a positive and encouraging tone for the rest of their day. We would be delighted if you could join us in spreading love and positivity to assist our students in starting their day with a sense of excitement and motivation for learning and growth. Together, let's work towards setting a positive tone for the school day ahead.

During this program, students will:

• Master essential kitchen techniques and safety.

• Learn to Cook delicious, budget-friendly meals.

This program is family-friendly and parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to join!

Attend 3+ sessions to enter to win cookware prizes.

•Pledge to support and encourage JCPS students at ten different schools located throughout Jefferson County.
•Be present once a month to greet students as they arrive at school in the morning.

✨Looking to level up your culinary skills, cook delicious healthy meals on a budget, and spend fun quality time together? The JCPS Opportunity & Access Division invites you to sign up for our Community Cooks After-School Program!

We are thrilled to partner with Louisville’s very own Executive Chef Janeisha Payne, owner of Cooking with Jan LLC! Chef Jan discovered her love for food right here in Louisville, learning to "make magic with every meal" from her grandmother. Since taking her passion professional, she has competed on Food Network Canada’s Fire Masters, appeared as a regular guest chef on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, and shared her delicious, home-style recipes nationwide! Now, she’s bringing her expertise, energy, and love for cooking straight to our JCPS community!

During this program, your family will experience:

🍳 Hands-on Learning: Master proper kitchen techniques and essential kitchen safety.
🍳 Budget-Friendly & Tasty: Discover how to cook popular, delicious meals that are both healthy and affordable.
🍳 Family Fun: Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to participate alongside their students! (Parent participation is encouraged, though not required).
🍳 Cookware Giveaways: Attendees who participate in three or more sessions will be entered for a chance to win cookware prizes!
