Today we launch our free educational coloring book about how the Metro Council supports city services. We've been working with an incredible artist for a long time to get this ready. More details to come on where to get a copy.

To celebrate the launch, we're kicking off a citywide coloring contest. Residents of all ages are invited to download and color the official contest page and submit by August 31. Of course there are prizes!

There’s just something special about the excitement of a new school year. ❤️

We had such a wonderful evening at Kerrick Elementary's Ice Cream Social, welcoming so many incredible students and families and getting everyone excited for what’s ahead.

This year, I Would Rather Be Reading is proud to partner with and Shirley's Way Way to bring in-school literacy and math tutoring, conflict resolution, and career pathways exploration to Kerrick students. Together, we're investing in so much more than academics—we're investing in confidence, connection, and opportunity.

A huge shout out to Mike Mulrooney and the entire Shirley’s Way crew for making this partnership possible.

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this exciting community event a success while supporting free after-school programming and tutoring for Louisville youth.

Summer fun mixed with summer yum! The only way to beat this heat is by making some deliciously refreshing treats! Ms. Emily Smith from Kentucky State University cooled us down with some yummy fruit smoothies while teaching us about the importance of nutrition. Then these kiddos got some hands-on experience with a cooking class from 4-H! They absolutely loved the fruit salsa - it had Mia (age 8) saying, "it's to die for!"... what a glowing review!

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee! We had so much fun running our booth at the Ali Fest Carnival way back at the beginning of June. Our Positive Self Talk Flowers were a hit and we are so grateful to all who stopped by! 🦋🐝 We can't wait to take our kids to the Muhammad Ali Center for a field trip this summer!!

Who says a gloomy day can't be fun too?! We sure know how to make the most out of every day of camp. From our morning stroll before the rain, to our engaging learning games, nothing can stop the fun of summer camp, even when the storms rolled in earlier this week!
