Congratulations to Selma Jackson, National SDOP’s former chair on her nomination to receive the Women of Faith Award!

“I believe that the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) can be all the more what it has always been at its best: an agent of God's grace that embodies Christ's love in a world desperate for hope,” the Rev. Adele Langworthy said when asked about her hope for the future of the PC(USA). During the 227th G...

Women Meeting Space, an NGO organization in Panama has developed a project that seeks to strengthen their capacities to sustain and expand their struggle and demand for a life free of violence for women, girls, and adolescents in Panama. This space aims to develop tools for early recognition of violence, bodily autonomy, and menstrual management free from shame, stigma, or silence. They just concluded a workshop named "Moon Cycles | School of Menstrual Education". A space designed for adolescents aged 12 to 17, where they talked about the women bodies, menstrual cycles, and self-care from a respectful, loving, and taboo-free perspective. What a delight to help lead worship this morning at the Presbyterian Church of Danville. Two weeks ago I shared the documentary about our SSDOP work in Panamá made by Abner Veltier and Ileana López with a Sunday morning class. I was asked back to preach and I had the opportunity to share more about One Great Hour of Sharing and the work of the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP). And, I presided at the Table for the first time since my retirement. It was a lovely time with new friends. Thank you Sean Gladding, their pastor, for this opportunity. Please check out the trailer for the documentary found in this post, or watch the entire documentary.

Below earlier today with Presbyterian Hunger Program colleagues & their Advisory Committee Members on a visit to the Common Earth Gardens Incubator Farm.

The network of community-led gardens empowers families in working towards food security & to supplement their income from selling some of their produce. In 2025 SDOP awarded a similar type group La Minga Community Farm a grant. Its member growers cultivate 7 acres & equally share in the labor and harvest.
