Good health starts long before someone enters a hospital.

Across Kentucky, hospitals are partnering with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, local farmers, food banks and community organizations to improve access to healthy food, prevent chronic disease and strengthen local economies.

We're proud to partner with Kentucky Department of Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell as Kentucky leads the nation through its Food Is Medicine initiative.

When health care 🏥 and agriculture 🚜 work together, everyone wins.

Today, we honored State Senator Steve Meredith - KY State Senate as a KHA Legislative Champion for 2026 in a ceremony at Breckinridge Health in Hardinsburg.

As chair of the Senate Health Services Committee and a former hospital chief executive officer, Senator Meredith has consistently served as a trusted voice on issues affecting hospitals and the communities they serve. His leadership has helped advance practical solutions to some of Kentucky's most pressing health care challenges, including workforce shortages, rural access to care and fairer relationships between hospitals and insurers.

Pictured (left to right) are Breckinridge Health Chief Executive Officer Angel Portman, State Senator Stephen Meredith, KHA Senior Vice President of Policy & Government Relations Jim Musser, and Breckinridge County Judge Executive Maurice Lucas.
