Jefferson County Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth Kentuckians For The Commonwealth is a statewide citizens' organization working for a new balance of power and a just society. We have a vision.

The Jefferson County Chapter of KFTC hosts over two thousand members from all over Louisville and in Southern Indiana. We are working for a day when Kentuckians-and all people-enjoy a better quality of life. When the lives of people and communities matter before profits. When our communities have good jobs that support our families without doing damage to the water, air, and land. When companies a

nd the wealthy pay their share of taxes and can’t buy elections. When all people have health care, shelter, food, education, and other basic needs. When children are listened to and valued. When discrimination is wiped out of our laws, habits, and hearts. And when the voices of ordinary people are heard and respected in our democracy.

'WATCH ME': In his Team Kentucky update Thursday, Gov. Andy Beshear spoke on his executive order signed last week aimed at protecting Kentuckians from the 'harmful impacts' of data centers and how he plans to enforce it.

The order mandates companies to submit an initial energy plan to the Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC), proving their data center won't raise electric bills for nearby homes and businesses.

JCTA is hosting the WEST END NEIGHBORHOODS HISTORY TOUR on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Jefferson County teachers will have the opportunity to explore and learn about the rich history, culture, landmarks, and lived experiences in the West End neighborhoods and the Black communities of Louisville, KY.

TOUR BENEFITS:
(1) Improve teacher-student relationships through insight and interest in student home neighborhood, environment, and conditions.
(2) Enhance classroom and learning experiences connecting curriculum to local history, culture, developments and issues.
(3) Build effective student support systems identifying area challenges and resources.

PD CREDIT: Tour participants will earn three (3) Professional Development credit hours.
