Do you know that many of our Evolve KY members have the hearts of teachers? You don't have to be a member to received kind advice and guidance on any EV questions. Our mission is to inform the public about the benefits of electric vehicles and to encourage the growth of EVs and EV chargers in our community.

Thanks to Rick Sullivan a longtime Evolve KY member and friend, he has helped multiple people feel more confident in driving safely with EV ownership.

According to Rick (who just registered for our upcoming National Drive Electric Month event) reported:

We will DEFINITELY be there. I convinced an 80-year old neighbor to purchase a Tesla this week! He’s had 3 wrecks in the past several months and after demonstrating FSD (Full Self Driving) for him (and him watching hours of YouTube videos), he decided to make the purchase. It’ll keep him in the drivers seat many more years.

Thanks good friend!

Public meeting scheduled Aug. 12 on draft permit for central KY power plant expansion

The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet will hold a public hearing on a draft air construction permit for an expansion of the E.W. Brown Generating Station in Mercer County. The permit would authorize an additional gas-fired turbine at the facility that could increase its generating capacity by 681 megawatts, raising the facility's greenhouse gas emissions by over 2.3 million tons per year. It would also increase health-harming criteria air pollutants by nearly 500 tons per year. The cabinet will hold a virtual public hearing on the draft permit at 2 p.m. Eastern on Aug. 12 and is accepting comments on the draft permit until Aug. 6.

Chinese automakers are now the de facto global standard for electric vehicles. BYD is outselling Tesla with highly affordable models. Consumer electronics giant Xiaomi is rolling out stylish sedans and SUVs outfitted with dizzying in-cabin infotainment tech. But staggeringly high tariffs, hovering at 127.5% for Chinese-built EVs, have kept those cars largely out of American driveways.

But they have not kept them out of Waymo’s fast-growing U.S. robotaxi fleet. Read the full story: https://www.forbes.com/sites/alanohnsman/2026/08/02/americans-cant-buy-chinese-evs-waymo-is-importing-thousands/?utm_source=ForbesMainFacebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ForbesMainFB
