August Chamber Spotlight

Park Terrace Health Campus: Compassionate Care, Meaningful Connections, and a Commitment to Valley Station

The Valley Station Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Park Terrace Health Campus as our August Chamber Spotlight Member.

Located in the heart of Southwest Louisville, Park Terrace provides rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, memory care, and compassionate support for residents and families as their healthcare needs change. Led by a team committed to dignity, communication, and individualized care, Park Terrace strives to make every person who enters its doors feel welcomed, respected, and supported.

A Calling to Care for Others

For Emily Wheatley, Director of Sales at Park Terrace, serving older adults is more than a profession—it is a passion that began early in her life.

Emily first became interested in the medical field while attending vocational school during high school. During her senior year, she participated in a co-op program at a nursing home. It was there, while working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, that she discovered how deeply she loved caring for the aging population.

That early experience shaped a career centered on helping residents and families navigate some of life’s most important and emotional transitions.

Creating a Place That Feels Like Family

Receiving rehabilitation, skilled nursing, memory care, or long-term support away from home can be an emotional experience. Park Terrace works to make that transition as comfortable and reassuring as possible.

“From the moment someone walks through our doors, they are greeted with friendly smiles, personalized care, and a team dedicated to treating each resident like family,” Emily shared.

The Park Terrace team takes time to learn about each resident’s personality, preferences, history, and individual needs. They also build relationships with family members so care decisions can be made with greater understanding and compassion.

This personal approach allows the team to provide care that is both meaningful and individualized rather than treating every resident’s journey the same.

Support Through Every Stage of Care

One of the qualities that makes Park Terrace unique is its ability to provide a continuum of care. Residents can receive different levels of support as their health, rehabilitation, or daily living needs change.

Whether someone is working toward greater independence following an illness, injury, or hospital stay; needs long-term skilled nursing care; benefits from memory care services; or requires comfort and dignity during the later stages of life, the Park Terrace team is there to walk alongside residents and their families.

Communication is an important part of that process.

Emily explained that although healthcare professionals guide families through these decisions every day, the team remembers that this may be the first time a family has ever faced them.

“Even when we do not have an answer immediately, reaching out to acknowledge that we are working toward an answer goes a long way,” she said. “Communication is always the best tool when working with families and residents.”

Recognized for Quality and Clinical Excellence

Park Terrace Health Campus was recognized as a 2024 Silver National Quality Award recipient, reflecting its commitment to continued improvement and quality care.

As part of the Trilogy Health Services family, Park Terrace also emphasizes strong clinical standards, rehabilitation outcomes, and consistent staffing.

Emily shared that Park Terrace does not rely on outside staffing agencies and has more onsite clinical staff than the industry average. This consistency allows team members to develop lasting relationships with residents, understand their changing needs, and provide more personalized care.

A Memory Care Journey That Made a Difference

Throughout her career, Emily has experienced many rewarding moments, but one family’s journey remains especially meaningful.

She worked for several months with a spouse who was struggling emotionally with the possibility of placing a loved one in memory care. Emily listened, offered guidance, and remained available as the family considered its options.

When the decision was eventually made, both spouses found greater peace and support.

“He was grateful for all the support, and they are both happy,” Emily shared. “Our Memory Care unit has been a blessing to them both.”

Stories such as this demonstrate how compassionate care can support not only the resident but the entire family.

Building Stronger Community Connections

Emily became involved with the Valley Station Chamber of Commerce because she wanted to be better informed about community events, develop professional relationships, and help Park Terrace become more connected with Valley Station.

Her Chamber involvement has introduced her to professionals in healthcare and many other industries while creating opportunities to connect local families with needed services.

“It has opened so many opportunities in the professional world that I didn’t realize I was missing,” Emily said. “It’s been great hearing how we’ve helped so many families through the connections made with the Chamber.”

Looking ahead, Park Terrace hopes to collaborate with more Valley Station businesses, provide community sponsorships, and host events that bring local senior citizens, families, healthcare professionals, and community partners together.

Emily is also excited about Park Terrace’s continued growth. As the campus serves more residents and families, it can create additional employment opportunities and strengthen its positive impact throughout Southwest Louisville.

Care Centered Around the Individual

More than anything, Emily hopes Valley Station residents understand that every person who enters Park Terrace is treated as an individual.

Each resident arrives with a unique life story, family, personality, and set of needs. The Park Terrace team’s responsibility is to listen, communicate, and provide care that protects each person’s comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

The Valley Station Chamber of Commerce thanks Emily Wheatley and the entire Park Terrace Health Campus team for their compassion, professionalism, and dedication to serving residents and families throughout Valley Station and Southwest Louisville.
