This citation will hold a special place in the history of the Iroquois Neighborhood Association. We thought it would be nice to post a picture of the actual citation so folks that did not attend Rosa's dedication can read it.

Presented by State Representatives Rachel Roarx and Lisa Willner during Women's History Month, it commemorates the dedication of Rosa Phillips Stonestreet's headstone at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Rosa was a daughter of Louisville, an educator, a reformer, and a pioneer who shaped public education in Jefferson County. Yet her grave remained unmarked for almost 90 years.

May we always be a community that remembers those who came before us, especially the women whose achievements helped shape the world we know today.

The Iroquois Neighborhood Association proudly celebrated its 80th anniversary at its Annual Banquet on Tuesday, June 16, at Rubbies Southside Grill and Bar

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was honoring the late Steve Phelps of Phelps Hardware on Southside Drive, whose dedication to our neighborhood touched generations of residents. Steve recently passed away, and his family was presented with a certificate commemorating the placement of a Memorial Brick in his honor at the Colonial Gardens Courtyard.

The tribute became even more special when Steve's wife, Alison Phelps, shared heartfelt memories of Steve's lifelong commitment to community service. Other members fondly recalled doing business with Steve at Phelps Hardware and working alongside him during his tenure as President of the Iroquois Neighborhood Association. The stories shared throughout the evening served as a beautiful reminder that strong neighborhoods are built by neighbors who care deeply for one another.

The Association was also pleased to welcome Rachel Roarx, who administered the oath of office to the Association's Board of Directors. Her participation added a special touch to an evening dedicated to celebrating the past while looking toward the future.

As we commemorate eight decades of service to the Iroquois community, we remain committed to preserving the spirit of neighborliness and civic engagement that has defined our organization since 1946.

Our next meeting will be held on September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at DeSales. The evening will feature a Candidates Forum for the upcoming November election, and all are welcome to attend.

A tremendous thank you to Rubbies Southside Grill & Bar for providing our guests with a delicious dinner and for keeping everything running so smoothly throughout the evening. Their outstanding food, warm hospitality, and attentive service helped make our celebration truly special.
