This week, Southern Baptists elected W***y Rice as the new President of the Southern Baptist Convention. As senior pastor of Calvary Church in Clearwater, Florida, Rice encouraged Southern Baptists to remain steadfast in their faith while embracing their identity with both conviction and joy.

In his remarks, he said, “The Southern Baptist Convention is not eroding [or] equivocating. The Southern Baptist Convention is enduring. We are convictional, cheerful Baptists who are grateful for our Baptist heritage, confident in what we believe.”

His message serves as a reminder that our mission remains unchanged: to faithfully proclaim the Gospel, strengthen churches, and continue advancing Kingdom work together.

Great work by NAMB!

This includes 699 new church plants — the most we have seen in a single year since 2016 — along with 93 replants, 32 new campuses, and 127 new affiliations.

With this growth, Southern Baptists have now planted more than 12,000 new churches since 2010!

Each of those new churches is a place where someone who did not know Jesus last year can hear the gospel this Sunday.

Through Send Network, we hosted 49 assessment retreats and welcomed 456 new planters to orientation.

Our Sending Labs and Residency Builders trained 1,802 leaders from 1,111 churches.

“Planters don’t fall out of the sky. They come out of healthy, sending churches that decided to raise them up on purpose.”
– Kevin Ezell

“The church in the world is a good thing. The world in the church is a bad thing.” — Stephen Rummage

Dr. Rummage shared this timely reminder while preaching at the 2026 SBC Pastors’ Conference. As believers, we are called to engage our communities with the hope of the Gospel while remaining faithful to God’s truth and His Word.

Please join us in praying for our pastors, churches, and leaders as they faithfully proclaim Christ and make disciples across Kentucky and beyond.
