Have you seen the new report - Disabling Infrastructure: The (In)accessible Housing Crisis in Louisville, Ky - from Gathering Strength, Inc. and the Community Foundation of Louisville Community Foundation of Louisville? πŸ“Š

It is a MUST READ - a staggering look at the woefully inadequate affordable, accessible housing crisis in Louisville. 🏑

We at Mattingly Edge are acutely aware of this issue due to the people we support and the barriers they have faced to find housing. You might even recognize a familiar face and story in the report πŸ˜‰

Stay up to date with Gathering Strength and download the full report here: https://gatheringstrength.org/accessible-housing-report/

Recent high school graduate, Sarah, has been exploring careers in the art world with her Life Launch Specialist, Karly! 🎨

At the end of July, Sarah hosted an Art Therapy Night in the Northeast Regional Library Maker Space where she taught attendees how to make alcohol ink coasters! πŸ–ŒοΈ

Life Launch was created to support students with disabilities in gaining real-world connections and experiences, one at a time. Support is customized to each students specific interests, leading to better careers, more access to higher education, and greater independence. βœ”οΈ

We are so proud of all the hard work Sarah put into planning and hosting her first art event! πŸ’₯

We are so proud of our Director of Community Supports, Sailee Gupte, for graduating from Leadership Louisville Center's 2026 Alice Houston Women's Leadership Program! πŸ‘

As part of the 5-month experience, Sailee participated in immersive sessions, peer circles, and executive mentorship to grow her influence and strategic impact. Best of all, she got to collaborate closely with a dynamic cohort of women who support and elevate each other beyond the program.βœ”οΈ

The best part about Mattingly Edge is the community. A big part of that community are the wonderful people we employ, like Emily Miller!

Emily is an artist, advocate, and wears many hats at Mattingly. Rather than keeping these parts of her identity separate, Emily does an excellent job weaving together her passions, skills, and people she's connect with. In a recent article about her and her work, Emily said:

"People with disabilities deserve to live self-determined lives. The idea that their well-being is sympathetic or dependent on receiving kindness of others implies a certain power dynamic between able-bodied people and folx with disabilities. We need to unlearn that."

Thank you for being who you are, Emily! We're all better for it πŸ’₯

We're a little late to the party, but we couldn't let July pass without wishing Kimber a big CONGRATULATIONS on her 1 year workiversary with Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies!πŸ‘

Kimber works the reception desk and helps to lead Teen Club at Kids Center, keeping operations smooth but also providing powerful representation of what work can look like for the children who go there. We are so proud to be part of her incredible story! πŸ’«
