Have we mentioned that we have some truly awesome board members?? 💯

Jackelyn Peake joined Mattingly Edge’s board last year and cares about making the community a better place for everyone!

Jackelyn works in communications at Kosair for Kids and is pursuing a graduate degree in Organizational Communication at Murray State.

Outside of the office, Jackelyn enjoys traveling with her husband, taking workout classes, and trying new restaurants around Louisville! ✈️💪🍽️

Now that National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is in full swing, we wanted to get back to highlighting the awesome job candidates we get to represent!

Noticed our cool new nametags recently? They were made by Unified Sign and Designwhere Jean (pictured) works!

Jean is always up for learning new responsibilities to help out her team. When our special order came through, Jean learned how to apply the magnetic backing to our nametags so her team could stay focused on their bigger projects.

This is the benefit of Customized Employment - creating new positions based on business needs - backups and bottlenecks, work better performed by others, tasks that never leave the to-do list, and/or tasks of added value. When you open your mind to the possibilities, new opportunities emerge!

Gabby is in her 30’s, one of five siblings, and loves dogs and pop culture. She’s moving into her own house in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood THIS MONTH!

Gabby is also a wheelchair user and is seeking a female roommate to live in her upstairs suite. She has a cat allergy, but good dogs are welcome! She is also willing to negotiate lower rent in exchange for some support needs.

Now that they have their gifts, we HAD to show you guys how cute these cups turned out and thank Froggy’s Popcorn for helping us appreciate our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) with their Granny's Caramel + Buttermilk Cheddar popcorn 🤤

The Mattingly Edge crew had a blast asking kids what they wanted to be when they grew up at the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies annual Walk'N'Roll!

We believe kids of all abilities should be encouraged to dream BIG when it comes to their future plans, whether that be at work, at home, or in community.

Kids challenge us all to try new things in new ways. If we're brave enough to let them try, they can build a more equitable and accessible future ♥️

This was a hard post to make...

No, literally, this post to celebrate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Appreciation Week was SO hard to make because there's hardly any photo evidence!

At Mattingly Edge, our DSPs are trained to center the person they support in any setting, which means you might not even realize the person has a support worker. But we see them.

We see their determination and persistence, their early mornings and late nights, the intentionality they practice assisting the people they support show up as their best selves. They show up during snowstorms and family emergencies, on weekends and holidays. The work of a DSPs is sorely underappreciated and under-reimbursed by the state, but they still show up.

This week, we encourage you to thank a DSP, either here on this post or in real life! They aren't "angels" for doing what they do, but they are pretty hardcore...

Happy Disability Support Professional appreciation week! The world is better for the work you do.
