Job Title: Histotechnician (Startup Oral Pathology Lab)
Location: Bluegrass Oral Pathology, 80 Codell Drive, Lexington, KY
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
Anticipated Start Date: August 17, 2026
Pay Rate: $32.00 – $35.00 per hour (Depending on experience and training)
Help build the foundation of our new startup pathology lab! We are seeking an independent, adaptable histotechnician to process H&E stains, special stains, and IHC as needed. You will have total ownership of the histology workflow. Oral pathology experience is preferred but not required. Enjoy easy parking and a highly convenient location in Lexington.
About the Role
We are launching an oral pathology lab in the Lexington area and need an ambitious, highly skilled histotechnician to be the sole operator of our histology department. If you want the autonomy and excitement of building a lab from the ground up—with the perk of finishing your workday by 2:00 PM—this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end histology workflow (grossing assistance, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining).
Prepare high-quality H&E and special stains.
Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining as required.
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment (microtomes, automated stainers, etc.).
Establish lab safety protocols, quality control measures, and documentation systems.
Qualifications
Required: Proven hands-on experience processing H&E, special stains, and IHC.
Preferred: Experience preparing oral pathology specimens.
Mindset: Highly adaptable, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working independently.
Education/Certification: Appropriate certification (HT/HTL) and/or education compliant with CLIA standards.

Compensation & Paid Time Off (PTO)
Hourly Pay: $32.00 – $35.00 per hour (Determined by experience and training).
First-Year PTO: 10 days of paid time off to start.
Future PTO: Upgrades to 15 days of paid time off per year starting in year two.
