πŸš›πŸ’š 6 MILLION POUNDS RESCUED! πŸ’šπŸš›

Since launching the Food Rescue Hero app in November 2023, Kentucky Harvest volunteers and food donors have helped rescue more than 6 million pounds of surplus food that might otherwise have gone to waste.

Even more amazing, that brings our total impact to over 92 million pounds rescued since our founding!

Every rescue represents meals on tables, support for our nonprofit partners, and less food ending up in landfills. Thank you to our volunteers, food donors, nonprofit partners, and supporters who make this work possible every day.

Together, we're proving that good food belongs in our communities, not in the trash.

Our Executive Director, Heather Stewart, had the pleasure of joining the amazing Dawne Gee (WAVE-TV) this week to talk about Support the Ones and why food rescue matters now more than ever. 🚚

With food costs remaining high and more families turning to community resources for support, the need across Kentuckiana continues to grow. Every day, Kentucky Harvest works to rescue perfectly good surplus food and deliver it to local nonprofits serving our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Thank you, Dawne, for helping shine a light on this important work and the many volunteers, food donors, and community partners who make it possible. 🌟

πŸŽ₯ Watch the interview below and learn how food rescue is helping nourish our community while reducing food waste and see what YOU can do to help.

Dawne Gee welcomes Kentucky Harvest to the WAVE Country studio to highlight their mission and the Support the Ones campaign.

πŸ‘ Holy peach!

Last week our staff rescued 12,500 pounds of peaches. (For anyone who's wondering... that's around 33,000 peaches!) That's enough peaches to make a giant cobbler, start a peach parade, or keep Georgia on its toes.

Instead, they're doing something even better: feeding our neighbors through Kentucky Harvest's network of nonprofit partners.

Now that's what we call a peach-perfect ending. 🧑

Last week, we had the opportunity to meet with State Representative Rachel Roarx to discuss the very real issue of food insecurity in our community and share how Kentucky Harvest is helping address it through food rescue. 🚚

To see the impact firsthand, we visited Greater Saint Mark Baptist Church during one of their community food distributions. We're grateful for partners like Greater St. Mark who help ensure rescued food reaches families who need it most. Together, we're turning food that might otherwise go to waste into nourishment for our neighbors.

Food rescue is one of the most effective ways to fight local hunger while reducing food waste. Every day, there is enough surplus food to make a difference, and with the right partners, we can get that food where it belongs: on people's plates.

Thank you to Rep. Roarx for taking the time to learn more about this important work, and thank you to Greater St. Mark Baptist Church for your ongoing commitment to serving our community.

πŸ’š Want to help end local food insecurity? Your support makes food rescue possible. Every donation helps us rescue more food, reach more people, and create a stronger, healthier community.

πŸ’™ Thank You, Costco! πŸ’™

For the past five years, Costco has been an incredible partner in the fight against hunger, donating more than 100,000 pounds of food through Kentucky Harvest!
Because of their commitment to reducing waste and giving back, thousands of pounds of quality food have been rescued and redirected to local nonprofits serving families, children, seniors, and individuals facing food insecurity throughout our community.

Together, we're proving that good food belongs on tables, not in landfills.
Thank you, Costco, for your generosity, partnership, and dedication to making Kentuckiana a stronger, healthier place for everyone. We are grateful for your continued commitment to feeding our community while protecting our environment. πŸŒŽπŸ’š
