Since 1923 Kosair Charities has had one primary mission – helping children in need. Kosair Charities knows that the quality of a child’s tomorrow depends largely on the quality of health, medical treatment, and support a child receives today. Kosair Charities supports over 100 pediatric agencies in our community with funding for research, clinical services, health education and care every year.

It’s been a big week for Kosair Kid Mylan! He celebrated his 3rd birthday earlier this week, and today, he received a wheelchair accessible van!

Mylan was born with multiple challenging diagnoses, including ataxia, which causes poor muscle control. He and his family are grateful for your generosity, which made this vehicle possible. Now, Mylan has a safe way to get around town.

The NICU at Baptist Health Louisville is now officially the Kosair for Kids NICU!

We’re proud to support the NICU expansion with a $2 million grant, ensuring more access to specialized care for Baptist Health Louisville’s tiniest patients.

“Today’s dedication reflects Kosair for Kids’ commitment to ensuring that our most vulnerable newborns have access to the critical medical treatment they need,” explained Kosair for Kids president and CEO Barry Dunn. “We are grateful for the wonderful care the next generation of Kosair Kids will receive from our partners at Baptist Health Louisville, and we are proud to partner with Baptist Health on this important project.”

“It’s time to fly,” exclaimed OVW Wrestling star Super Z, before taking out his competition with a helpful launch from his tag-team partner Kid Colossus. Kosair Kids cheered and laughed with delight at the sight inside OVW’s Louisville arena on Saturday.

This was the third year Kosair Kids were treated to a wrestling experience, and the crowd was bigger and more excited than ever. About 125 kids and their family members enjoyed the fun thanks to the Mel Meiners family, this year’s presenting sponsor. Mel entertained as the Schnitzelburg Giant decades ago. His son, Chris, and great-grandson, Christopher, enjoyed the show. BTW, Chris Meiners is a proud Kosair Kid!

Children and families facing grief will be welcomed by a new place with a beautiful story to tell. The Kosair for Kids Demling Pavilion at Camberwell Grief Sanctuary opened this weekend in Bedford.

Buddy Demling was a legendary golf pro and trick-shot artist known worldwide. His love and support of children is also well known, as he worked tirelessly for decades to help Kosair Kids. This pavilion is dedicated in memory of Buddy, his late wife, Sara, and son, Jeff.

“When we lost my brother, there was no place like this to help us handle the enormous grief we felt,” explained Dr. Jennifer Cebe, Buddy Demling’s daughter and member of the Kosair for Kids Advisory Council. “No child, no family, should be forced to navigate that trauma alone. We hope that the pavilion will offer refuge for those struggling with unimaginable loss.”

Many who gathered to mark the occasion included former Kosair for Kids board members, current Advisory Council members, close friends, and supporters of Camberwell Grief Sanctuary.
