Everybody talks about bringing life into the world. But who helps us leave it? And who walks with us when life as we know it is falling apart somewhere in between?

⚰️Have you ever heard of a death doula?🤰🏽Do you really understand what a birth doula does beyond the delivery room?⏳And what happens when you are not being born or dying…but the person you used to be no longer exists?

🗓️Tomorrow, we are not having a safe, polite, surface-level conversation.

On By Any Means, Ryan and I are sitting down with birth doula, Jasmine Furmon and death doula, Darnell Lamont Walker to talk about the things most people avoid until life forces them to pay attention:
Birth. Death. Grief. Justice. Dignity. Identity. Surrender. Transformation. And the messy, uncomfortable space between who you were and who you are becoming.

Our very own executive director, Shreeta Marie, will also be introducing her work as a life doula; “because some transitions do not come with a funeral, a baby shower, a ceremony, or even language. Sometimes your relationship ends. Your leadership changes. Your body changes. Your dream dies. Your identity shifts. Your old life stops fitting…and everybody still expects you to keep functioning like nothing happened. Who walks with you then?”

And THIS will not be a conversation where the audience just sits quietly and watches. We want your questions, your experiences, and your truth in the room. We will be engaging with you live…and if you are bold enough to raise your hand, we may bring you directly onto the screen and into the conversation.
