Italy has officially lit up the world’s largest Christmas tree on the slopes of Mount Ingino in Gubbio 🎄✨
A tradition since 1981, this massive display stretches hundreds of meters across the mountainside, creating a glowing tree that can be seen from miles away. Volunteers spend weeks preparing thousands of lights, and each year the switch-on marks the start of the holiday season in this historic Umbrian town. A truly unique Christmas sight you can only find in Italy 🇮🇹

Interested in visiting the Venice and the Ottoman Empire exhibit at the Frist Museum in Nashville?

ICI Board Member, Donna McCoy highly recommends:
"Just recently I was in Nashville and visited the Frist Art Museum especially to see this exhibition. Even if you have traveled to Venice and viewed many more works of Venetian art in painting, glass, and other media than can be presented in an exhibition, you’ll enjoy this impressive presentation that explores the relationship of Venice and the Ottoman Empire not only in diplomacy and politics but also in shared art motifs.

In addition to the art and other objects on display in seven rooms, very interesting is the continuously running film about the Gagliana Grossa, a fully loaded Venetian merchant ship that sank near Croatia in 1583. Archaeologists explain the ongoing recovery since the 1960s of over 20,000 objects from this shipwreck, some of which are displayed in this exhibition.

Certainly if you’re interested in Venice, I recommend a drive down to Nashville before this exhibition closes. By the way, just admiring the beautifully restored art deco interior of the museum is a treat!"

Featuring more than 150 works of art in a broad range of media this exhibition draws from the vast collections of Venice’s storied museums.
