West End School

West End School All WES students attend on scholarships. We operate on donations, grants, and amazing volunteers.

WES opened its doors in 2005 because of the growing need for alternative forms of education, particularly for the young men in our community. For many of these students, elementary and middle school years are a transitional 'tipping point' both socially and academically. Boys especially are at higher risk for almost every index of failure: academic, achievement, truancy, dropout rates, school susp

ensions and expulsions, delinquency, and incarceration. West End School strives to address all of these issues by creating for its students a culture of high expectations, integrity, and responsibility. Through the School's rigorous academic & personal standards, we encourage our students to attain the highest possible level of scholarship, intellectual growth, and character. When these standards are in place, it is remarkable the progress students make. Our graduates have been offered more than $2 million in scholarships to many of the top high schools and colleges in the state. There is no charge for tuition, and all expenses are paid through donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome University of Louisville Men's Basketball Coach Pat Kelsey to West End School on May 18th! Coach Kelsey brought his signature passion and delivered a powerful message to our scholars about what it takes to succeed.

He challenged everyone to focus on the A, B, C's:
📚 A – Academics
🏀 B – Basketball (or whatever your ultimate passion is!)
🌟 C – Character

Join us for a special evening at Perso honoring the legacy of James Beard Award-winning Chef Kathy Cary of Lilly’s Bistro.

This one-night-only dinner features a collaborative four-course tasting menu inspired by some of Chef Cary’s most beloved dishes, thoughtfully reimagined for the evening.

Most importantly, 100% of every ticket sold ($150) will directly support West End School.
