Hello!
Another good day of life in Haiti!
The Hope Source School of Maillard pays teachers every month of the year. This helps them have money during the months school is out. We pay them cash and they sign a book to verify they have received their pay for the month.

We also picked up a load of 2X4s to take to the school. These will be used as support for the forms being built to make the horizontal concrete framework.

We built a dozen trusses to help a church that needs a roof. I used an online website to design the trusses. Then I went to town in my truck, bought a load of lumber, hauled it home and put a couple of guys in the wood shop to work cutting the pieces for the trusses. When they were finished cutting the pieces we did a test run on the ground and everything went together just like the puzzle was supposed to. Then we loaded the truck and hauled all the pieces to the church. The trusses were built there on the concrete floor of the church and then installed. We are now working on getting the funds to buy the metal for the roof.

The wood shop is also going strong. We had to replace the belt and a bearing in the motor of the table saw. Considering the table saw is one I was using before we brought it to Haiti, and the use & abuse it gets here, I am pleased and impressed by how it has endured.
The wood shop is providing work for up to 6 men who are building and selling furniture, etc. Their profit margin is minimal and we help with maintaining the tools and equipment. Hello! After visiting family and friends during November & December 2018 we are back in Haiti. We are repairing and upgrading benches for the Hope School of Maillard. The school is still operating under the tent and is in dire need of financial help to be able to construct a building. You can visit our website at hopesourceinc.org to donate.

There is much to be accomplished for the Hope Source School. We are planning to begin doing some construction this fall of a physical building. THE TENT has served us well! We are very thankful for it. But it is past time to have some real classrooms! Please join us in this adventure!
