Every nonprofit leader should read this article. And when you’re ready to find your story, StoryFest Louisville is here.

Storytelling can reveal behavioral patterns and systemic failures that quantitative metrics often miss. I speak from experience. Telling my story helped me win freedom.

The 2026 cohort gathered one last time.

Thank you to La Casita Center for the hospitality. Today’s session focused on strategy beyond the stage: how to use their stories to move their missions forward.

And each storyteller received their $10,000 grant for their organization.

What a way to close out the Storytelling Revolution Festival.

Today, our Program Lead Mera Kathryn Corlett joined Dr. Nikki Lanier, Kentucky Black Rep’s Larry Muhammad, and Pandora Productions’ Gil Reyes at Actors Theatre of Louisville for “Creating Drama in the Midst of Trauma” – a closing day panel on the future of theatre in uncertain times, moderated by playwright Michelle Tyrene Johnson.

We’re grateful StoryFest had a seat at that table today.

A heartfelt thank you to Petals https://www.petalslouisville.com/ for generously donating the flowers for the event. Your arrangements added a layer of warmth, elegance, and care that didn’t go unnoticed.

Details matter and you helped create a space that felt intentional, welcoming, and alive.

We’re so thankful for your partnership and support of this community.

I’m still taking in last night.

The storytellers brought their whole hearts… their truth, their courage, their humanity, and it filled the room. You could feel it. The energy, the connection, the way a community can come together and lift something bigger than any one of us.

What struck me most… before anyone even stepped on stage, this cohort made a quiet agreement: whoever won would share it. Not because they had to but because that’s who they are.

That spirit says everything.

These organizations serve some of the most vulnerable in our community. And last night, they stood side by side, not competing, but connected. The bond between them, their coaches, and the entire room… it was real. It was generous. It was powerful.

Grateful doesn’t even quite cover it. But it’s a place to start.
