📸 A moment frozen in time: Paris, France July 4, 1923.

During an Independence Day ceremony at the tomb of La Fayette held by the Sons of the American Revolution in France, commander of the American Legion, Colonel Hugh A. Bayne, paid tribute to the Marquis de Lafayette in his address. These photographs from the October 1923 issue of the SAR magazine capture the poignant wreath-laying ceremony from that historic day.

This year the The American Legion National Headquarters convention is in Louisville, Kentucky and within walking distance of the SAR headquarters! If you’re in town, stop by and see us!

Read Colonel Bayne’s full address and much more in the October 1923 issue online through the SAR Magazine Archive by clicking the link and selecting October 1923 from the list! https://www.sar.org/1920-1929/
