IPA RFK Donates Nearly $64,000 to Local Children’s Charities

The IPA’s 2019 Reach for Kids campaign has donated nearly $64,000 to two local children’s charities. IPA President Bob Travis presented Kosair Charities and Home of the Innocents each with checks totaling $31,938.77. The money was raised in conjunction with the annual Bowmanfest and its RFK-sponsored 5K run/walk. Donations came from corporate sponsors, the IPA Foundation and proceeds from raffle baskets, an online auction and the 5K run/walk.

“It is truly an honor to help support two local organizations that make such a difference in the lives of children in the Louisville community,” said IPA President Bob Travis. “The success of this year’s campaign is a testament to the generosity of our pilots, our corporate sponsors and the IPA Foundation. It also speaks to the continued hard work and dedication of our wonderful staff.”

The donation to Kosair Charities will benefit the financial assistance program at Kosair Charities Pediatric NeuroRecovery Center to help fill the gap in insurance coverage for children undergoing cutting edge therapy for spinal cord injuries.

The donation to Home of the Innocents will benefit Project Keepsafe which gives parents undergoing treatment for drug/alcohol addiction, mental illness and/or physical illness the opportunity to voluntarily place their children in residential care at Home of the Innocents or in the Home’s Therapeutic Loving Foster Care (TLC) Program.

Since its creation in 1998, IPA Reach for Kids has donated nearly $725,000 to local children’s charities.

In the coming days we will share our final totals for this year’s IPA Reach for Kids Campaign. Our online auction raised nearly $14,000 for Kosair Charities and Home of the Innocents. Along with the online auction, our raffle raised more than $2800 in donations. A special thanks to the IPA staff, the IPA Wives Club, local merchants and our pilots for donating all the items.

In addition to the auction and raffle, proceeds from direct and corporate donors along with the 5K on the Runway will also benefit Kosair Charities and Home of the Innocents.

Thanks to all those folks who showed up at Bowmanfest this year! We had a great time meeting everyone that came past the IPA booth! We sold over 1400 raffle tickets, with proceeds going directly to the Home of the Innocents and Kosair Charities. All the raffle basket winners have been notified! We look forward to a bigger and better event next year! If you didnt win at the raffle do not forget about our online auction. You still have a few hours to get your bids in!

It’s a beautiful day at Bowmanfest! More than 600 registrants for this morning’s 5K on the Runway! Come out to Bowman Field and enjoy great weather, food, music, vintage aircraft and make sure to stop by the IPA Reach for Kids booth! All proceeds from our raffle baskets benefit Kosair Charities and Home of the Innocents!

This is a "THANK YOU!" shout out to the RFK Raffle Basket Packing Posse featuring Candis, Carla, Kelli, Jeanie and Kathy! What a talented group - they packed and styled and fluffed and wrapped to create more than a dozen very eye-catching baskets! Most of our raffle baskets are now ready to go for this weekend.

And another big "THANK YOU!" to everyone who donated or gathered donations for our raffle baskets and auction items this year! A wonderful, wide variety of family board games and card games, spa products, travel opportunities, art pieces, tour experiences, dining gift cards, technology items and more have been received.
