is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing foster care and adoption services. Our mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable children and allow them to thrive by providing a loving, nurturing and stable home environment. Silks in the Bluegrass was first established in 2009.

For many people, the public picture of release is simple. The door opens, someone walks out, and life starts over.

Anyone who works near the justice system knows it is not that simple.

The days and hours before release can carry a heavy mix of hope and fear. A person may be thinking about where they will sleep, how they will get identification, whether family will answer the phone, how to find work, how to stay sober, how to meet court requirements, and how to avoid the same situations that led them back into jail before.

That is why the timing of this kind of reentry support matters so much.

Classes are now being taught in the Bourbon County Jail, focusing on strengthening your bond with your child. Our core word is restoration

Building and restoring strong parent-child relationships is a critical step toward healing families affected by incarceration. Thanks to generous funding from Kosair Charities, Operation Open Arms is now able to expand its parent-child relationship restoration classes in county jails. This expansion offers a valuable opportunity to reduce trauma for both children and their incarcerated parents by fostering meaningful connections during difficult times.

If you have contacts in your local county jail who can help make personal connections, your involvement could significantly increase the reach and impact of these programs. The more families served, the greater the chance to break cycles of trauma and build healthier futures.
