This week, we're featuring Dr. Armaghan-e-Rehman Mansoor, an Infectious Diseases physician at the University of Kentucky, providing both inpatient and outpatient care while contributing to academic medicine.

Growing up in Pakistan, Dr. Mansoor witnessed the profound impact infectious diseases can have on communities and the life-changing difference that accurate diagnosis and treatment make. The problem-solving and analytical nature of Infectious Diseases inspired him to pursue the specialty.

He loves the opportunity to collaborate with patients, healthcare teams, educators, researchers, and administrators, helping improve care not only for individual patients but for healthcare systems and future physicians as well. One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is reconnecting patients to sustainable care after they have been affected by systemic barriers.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys film photography, spending time with his family and their one-year-old, and exploring new restaurants around Lexington.

His advice to fellow physicians: Don't be afraid to speak up when you see a systems issue—whether small or large. You can create more positive change than you might imagine.

A favorite quote that inspires him comes from Martin Luther King, Jr.: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?"

This week, we're featuring Dr. Jennifer Olges, an Academic Hospitalist at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Olges took a nontraditional path to medicine, spending seven years in bench research before pursuing a career that allowed her to make a more direct impact on patients' lives. She chose internal medicine for its breadth and its focus on comprehensive, patient-centered care.

One of her greatest joys is teaching medical students and residents, helping shape the next generation of internists. A memorable experience in her career reinforced the importance of attention to detail, when a careful review of a patient's telemetry before discharge led to the discovery of an abnormal rhythm and timely pacemaker placement.

Outside of medicine, Jennifer enjoys traveling—her favorite destination being Moraine Lake in the Canadian Rockies—and spending time with her two tween and teenage sons, who are competitive swimmers. She can often be found poolside with an audiobook in hand, cheering them on.

Her guiding philosophy: "Through patient care and teaching, I strive to make a meaningful difference—one patient and one future physician at a time."

This week, we're featuring Dr. Priya Krishnan, an academic hospitalist in Internal Medicine at the VA Medical Center.

Dr. Krishnan loves the variety and complexity of hospital medicine, as well as the opportunity to teach residents and medical students. She is inspired daily by her patients, learners, and colleagues and values the teamwork that makes exceptional care possible.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Krishnan is passionate about science education and serves as Academic Chair for the North South Foundation. She enjoys hiking, oil painting, table tennis, helping children with engineering projects, and is trained in Indian classical vocal music and the veena. She is also an avid Star Trek and Star Wars fan!

Her advice to fellow physicians: Patients and their families will always remember how you made them feel, so take the time to truly connect with them.

Dr. Krishnan values ACP for its commitment to scientific rigor, clinical excellence, professionalism, and compassionate, evidence-based patient care.

Her favorite quote, from William Osler, captures her approach to medicine perfectly: "Listen to your patient—he is telling you the diagnosis."

This week, we're featuring Dr. Meagan Schaeffner, our very own chapter Governor, and an outpatient internal medicine physician specializing in HIV primary care.

Dr. Schaeffner chose primary care because she values building long-term relationships with her patients and helping them achieve their health goals.

Her advice to fellow physicians: Work doesn't always happen from 8 to 5, but it's important to set and maintain the boundaries that matter most to you.

A member of ACP since her first year of medical school, Dr. Schaeffner considers it her professional home, providing opportunities for lifelong learning, connection, career development, and service.

Outside of medicine, Meagan loves spending time with her family, reading, baking, and traveling the world.
