Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky Inc Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky Inc was formed to help injured raptors, raise orphaned raptors and increase public awareness about the importance of raptors.

We rely solely on the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of our supporters for the daily care of each raptor. We take in 350-400 sick, injured, and orphaned birds of prey each year, and release over 65% of them back into the wild after rehabilitation.

24 Hours of Entrapment

Sadly over the past 24 hours we have received multiple calls about owls and hawks trapped in live traps, netting, and caging. These birds are just trying to hunt and eat.
Here are some things you can do to prevent trapping birds of prey:

1. Take down or put away sports netting each night when you are done playing. If you cannot put away, please check the netting frequently.
2. If you set “humane traps” out, check them frequently for animals. You may catch something you did not mean to.
3. If you have caged in gardens, Keep doors or gates closed.

The injuries we see from these instances are very frustrating because they are easily preventable.

There is officially less than 1 hour left in the Give for Good fundraising campaign!

On behalf of the birds and all of our volunteers, we want to sincerely thank each and every one of you who donated today, as well as those who have supported us with donations in the past. Your generosity and continued support mean so much to us and, most importantly, to the birds we care for. 🦅🦉

💧🦅 When you have Bald Eagles, the water bill hits a little differently.

Our eagles need plenty of fresh, clean water for drinking, bathing, and keeping those magnificent feathers in top condition. And when you have a giant eagle tub to fill… well, let’s just say our water bill has entered its “soaring” era. 😂

Every bath is worth it, though! Keeping our Educational Ambassadors and patients clean, healthy, and comfortable is an important part of their care. ❤️

Do you want to help us pay our water bill?

Red-tailed Hawks have a special adaptation in their eyes that helps them spot prey from incredible distances. Their vision is several times sharper than ours, allowing them to detect small animals while soaring high above the ground!

While a Red-tailed Hawk is in rehabilitation, it may not be able to hunt for itself. That means we become its food source, providing the proper diet and nutrition it needs while it heals and prepares for life back in the wild. Our goal is always to get healthy patients back to hunting and thriving on their own!

Do you ever feel like someone is watching you?

This video was taken during this year’s baby season. Without our incredible foster parents, raising these chicks and preparing them for a successful return to the wild would be an even greater challenge. We’re so grateful for the important role they play in giving these young birds the best possible start.

Supporting our patients is only part of what we do. Donations also help provide the care, food, and resources needed to support our Educational Ambassadors, who play an important role in helping us connect our community with wildlife and conservation.
