From the State head shed this weekend:

Attention incoming Line Officers, District Commanders and other Appointed Staff, please be in business formal attire for the installation on Saturday, June 27th. The Department photographer Robert Bracken will be taking pictures, to be placed on the Department's website. I ask that if you don't own a suit, please at least wear a collared shirt. This is what our members, other Departments, and the public sees when they look at our website. Let's try to show everyone how professional Kentucky is.

Due to the Juneteenth Federal Holiday, on Friday, June 19th, ALL Kentucky VFW Service Offices will be closed on that day.

Louisville, Lexington, Liberty and Cadiz.

School Loan Repayment Program Open: Applications are open for the VA Specialty Education Loan Repayment Program (SELRP), which allows recent graduates of accredited medical and osteopathic schools to work at VA in exchange for $40,000 per year in loan repayment with a maximum of $160,000 throughout their time in the program. Meant as a way for VA to increase medical staff in fields with shortages, SELRP applicants must be matched to or enrolled in residencies in fields such as psychiatry, anesthesiology, emergency medicine and others. Participants must serve in the SELRP for at least 24 months to be eligible for loan repayment. Applications must be received by May 31, 2026.

Very often we get veterans telling us that their VA medical care provider can't or won't assist them with a DBQ or nexus statement. This is information that was received during this last VFW Proficiency Training that occurred last week for your State Service Officers.

SERVICE OFFICE TEMPORARY CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT

All Service Offices will be closed during the period of April 24th thru May 3rd.
During this time none of our Service Officers will be available to assist clients either virtually or in real time.
Operations are scheduled to resume on Monday, May 4th.
This closure is due to a mandatory semi-annual training requirement by VFW National Veterans Service that our Service Officers must participate in.
