🚨OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM TEAM LEVI & LUCAS🚨
We want to address some recent rumors regarding Team Levi & Lucas—clearly and directly.
Team Levi & Lucas was officially formed in 2024 when two Down Syndrome of Louisville teams came together to create one “mega team,” built on a shared love for the boys and their passion for cars. Everything we do is rooted in that purpose.
Let’s be very clear:
Team Levi & Lucas is a 100% non-profit, volunteer-run organization.
No one is paid. Not a single person takes a dollar. Every event is powered by volunteers who give their time because they care.
All funds raised through our car shows and cruise-ins—including 50/50 raffles and silent auctions—go directly toward supporting Down Syndrome initiatives.
• All silent auction items are donated
• We do not use funds to create baskets, door prizes, or giveaways
• Every dollar raised is accounted for
We operate with full transparency. We have professional accounting services handling our books, and like any legitimate nonprofit, we operate under a federal tax ID. We are an open book—always have been, always will be.
We also want to address something that often gets misunderstood:
At the end of our car shows, we are frequently approached and asked for exact totals raised that day. While we understand the interest, the reality is that not all funds are finalized at that exact moment. We often receive additional support through Venmo, checks, and other donations that come in after or outside of the immediate event timeframe.
Because of this, numbers given “on the spot” may not reflect the full and accurate total. That is why we always take the time to properly account for everything and then publicly post the final amount raised for each event, along with the running total of funds being donated. Accuracy matters more than speed, and we stand by that.
Now to the rumors:
We have been made aware of claims that Team Levi & Lucas are pocketing money from events.
That is COMPLETELY FALSE.
Let’s call it what it is—MISINFORMATION.
We work too hard, and our volunteers give too much of their time and heart, for that kind of narrative to go unchecked. If these statements continue and the source is identified, we are prepared to pursue legal action for defamation and slander.
We also want to be clear about our stance in the local car community:
We support others. We show up. We do things the right way. That’s why it’s disappointing to hear negativity—especially when we have consistently shown support for others.
At the end of the day, we are here to create a positive, drama-free, family-friendly environment centered around a great cause.
