Today, we launched. 🌿

The For Parks Education Fund is officially open — and Louisville showed up.

This morning at the Ohio River, community leaders, faith leaders, business owners, neighbors, and parks enthusiasts from the East End, the South End, and the West End stood together because they believe Louisville’s parks are worth showing up for.

We are an independent, nonpartisan civic initiative with one mission: make sure every Louisville resident has clear, accurate, nonpartisan information about a ballot access question that will soon be before Metro Council and what it could mean for the future of Louisville’s parks.

Louisville loves its parks. There were over 9 million visits to Louisville’s public parks last year. And our parks carry $177 million in deferred maintenance.

Every Louisville resident deserves to be part of this conversation.

We know there may be real questions about what’s being considered — how it would work, what it would cost, etc. Louisville deserves honest answers to all of them. That is what we are here to provide.

Get the facts at forparkseducationfund.org. Follow this page. Share it with someone who cares about Louisville’s parks.

This is just the beginning.

Central Park in Old Louisville has a very active network of community support. Friends of Central Park, Kentucky Shakespeare, the Old Louisville Visitors Center, The Cabbage Patch Settlement House and Louisville Historic Tours are just a few of the local organizations that regularly use and advocate for the park.

With the new playground and sprayground, Central Park is a truly inclusive place for children and caregivers of all abilities. Park improvements this year include restored walkways, pergola and colonnade.

Parks are good for us! Places like Central Park help people from all walks of life to make connections and strengthen community.

Hope you all are enjoying the snow day! Stay warm and safe!📸Trisha Siegelstein
