Thank you to all those who poured into this campaign and those who came out last night to push for a vote! At last night's council meeting, we made history! The first policy written by tenants was not just passed by the full Louisville Metro Council but we passed UNANIMOUSLY with support from BOTH sides of the aisle!

This crucial legislation was written by poor and working-class residents of historically Black neighborhoods in collaboration with the office of Councilman Jecorey Arthur. This campaign has been going on for three years. It took us two years to write and begin to build relationships and ten months to organize Louisvillians from every voting district in Jefferson County. The base behind this work swelled with urgency as the housing crisis worsened. It took all of us to make this happen and this pioneering policy has already drawn the attention of other cities. Louisville is now paving the way for more progressive policies in our city, in our state, in the South, and in the whole of the United States of America.

Thank you so MUCH for your time and support!

Posted • The Anti-Displacement Ordinance WON its committee vote! Now we need support to pass it at the Metro Council Meeting on Thursday, Nov 9th 6:00pm

What happened: Last week, on October 31st, the Metro Council members on the Planning & Zoning Committee voted on legislation written by tenants living in Louisville’s neighborhoods that are most vulnerable to gentrification and displacement. This legislation is called the Anti-Displacement Ordinance (formerly the Historically Black Neighborhood Ordinance). Our legislation won the vote after three long months of debate! Now our legislation is going in front of the FULL Metro Council for debate and a vote! At this upcoming meeting we have three speakers that will be addressing council and four ordinance co-sponsors on Metro council who will be advocating for this crucial policy.

Next Steps: Join the Louisville Tenants Union at City Hall on Thursday and Wear RED in solidarity with tenants all over the city who deserve to be .

What: Attend Metro Council Meeting in RED, Thursday, 11/9 @ 6:00pm (Group Walk-Up from the street to Council Chambers at 5:45pm)

Where: City Hall, 601 W Jefferson Street
