🌟 Congratulations to all the outstanding participants and winners of last night’s 4-H and FFA Championship Drive presented by Farm Credit Mid-America at the Kentucky State Fair! 🌟

This time-honored tradition celebrates the heart of the Fair—agriculture—and showcases the hard work, passion, and dedication of Kentucky’s junior livestock exhibitors. Under the bright lights and on the iconic green shavings of Broadbent Arena, the top five Market Animals and, for the first time this year, the top five Breeding Animals were recognized. 🐂🐖🐑🐐

🌟 The Championship Drive is Almost Here 🌟

Tomorrow, the spotlight will shine on the green shavings of Broadbent Arena as the Championship Drive takes center stage at the Kentucky State Fair. This event celebrates the best of the bestamong nearly 500 exhibitors showing their market goats, sheep, swine, and steers.

Hardworking 4-H and FFA members spend all year preparing for this moment, competing for the honor of Grand Champion, Reserve Champion, or placing in the Top Five Overall. With more than 2,000 in attendance and additional live-stream viewers, the energy in the arena is unmatched.

🌟 What a morning at the Kentucky State Fair! 🌟

This year’s Sunshine Class welcomed more than 90 participants — the largest turnout ever! The smiles, the cheers, and the joy in the ring made this a day to remember.

A heartfelt thank you to Special Olympics Kentucky, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Commissioner Jonathan Shell, Warren Beeler and family and Joe Goggin for making this event such a success. 🌟 Tomorrow at the Kentucky State Fair, one of the most inspiring traditions returns — the Sunshine Class! 🌟

This event gives individuals with special needs the chance to step into the show ring, working alongside a mentor to show an animal and experience the agriculture industry firsthand. Every participant is celebrated with a championship banner.

The Sunshine Class was founded by Warren Beeler, Deputy Ag Commissioner, and Joe Goggin, Vice Chairman of the Kentucky State Fair Board — both of whom proudly serve on the Kentucky Exposition Foundation board. With the support of Special Olympics Kentucky, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and Commissioner Jonathan Shell.

The Sunshine Class is made possible in part through the generosity of donors to the Kentucky Exposition Foundation and now honors the legacy of Abby Beeler, who found such joy in this event.💛

Make plans to be at the Fair Aug. 22 to catch the 2024 Sunshine Class! The class gives people with special needs an opportunity to get hands-on experience with parts of the agriculture industry by showing livestock in a show ring with the help of their mentor. This year, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture partnered with Special Olympics Kentucky to raise awareness for the class.
