Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Life here in Malawi has been full and exciting! We recently said goodbye to one team and are now preparing to welcome another group arriving today.

Today, a wonderful group of women will be joining us for the next couple of weeks to serve alongside us, experience life in Malawi, and learn more about the mission and heart behind Akonda Ministries. Together, we will have the opportunity to participate in several ministry activities, including a children’s outreach event and a visit to minister to women at a local prison, along with many other opportunities to serve and encourage the communities around us.

As they arrive and we begin this journey together, we would appreciate your prayers. Pray for meaningful connections between our team, these ladies, and the people we will meet and serve. Pray for unity, flexibility, and hearts that are open to what God wants to do in and through each of us. Please also pray for the children, the women we will meet in prison, and everyone we encounter throughout the coming weeks- that they would experience the love, hope, and grace of Jesus.

Most importantly, pray that we would be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and that our lives would reflect Christ in every interaction.

One of the greatest gifts Malawi has given us is a deeper understanding of community.

Here, people often have very little by the world’s standards, yet they accomplish incredible things because they do them together. It may not always seem like the easiest or most efficient way, but when neighbors, friends, and families join hands, the work gets done- and it gets done with laughter, joy, and a sense of belonging.

Malawi has taught us that community is not just about helping one another; it’s about sharing life together. It’s a beautiful treasure that we see every day here and one that is often missing in the busyness of life back in the states.

Today, we want to encourage you to join hands with someone. Help with a small task, work on a project together, or simply spend time encouraging a friend. You may discover a joy you didn’t realize you were missing, while brightening someone else’s day in the process.

Malawi may be one of the poorest countries in the world, but its people are rich in joy, generosity, and relationships. There is so much we can learn from them.

Happy Sunday, friends!

We pray you’re having a wonderful start to summer. Whether you’re traveling, spending time with family, enjoying some much-needed rest, or worshiping at your home this morning, we pray that God blesses you and meets you right where you are.

Things in Malawi are going well. Lives are being changed every day through the work happening here, and I often find myself wishing each of you could see it firsthand. The children, families, patients, students, and communities you are impacting are real people with real stories, and your support makes such a difference.

If you’re away from your home church this weekend, in a non-traditional Sunday setting, or simply looking for a place to sow a gift, we’d love to give you the opportunity to be part of what God is doing in Malawi.

Scripture reminds us:

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.” — Proverbs 19:17

And,

“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

To be transparent, ministry is stretching us in this season. The needs are great, projects are moving forward, fuel costs continue to rise, and the daily expenses of serving thousands of people add up quickly. Yet we remain confident that God will provide, just as He always has.

If the Lord places Malawi on your heart today, your gift- whether large or small- helps provide medical care, discipleship, education, food assistance, community development, and hope to people who need it most.

Things at the medical compound are moving right along! 🙌 The maternity hospital is getting closer and closer, and we’re now heading into the next phase… roofing!

Please continue praying that support will keep coming so we can finish this hospital and get women and babies the help and care they need quickly.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. It truly means the world to us. Sometimes we’re so busy moving from one thing to the next that we have to stop and take it all in… look at what you’re helping do. This is HUGE. Every prayer, every gift, every bit of support is making a difference and helping change lives.

Things in Malawi are going great! Thank you for your continued support! The busy season has started! We are gearing up to head back to Malawi and there is so much happening right now. Between many visitors, events, preparations, and all that comes with this season, things are moving fast.

This is one of our busiest times of the year and we need your prayers now more than ever. Please pray for strength, wisdom, safe travels, health, and that God would go before every detail.

Starting tonight, groups begin traveling, and things only pick up from here.

Life is a lot like a soccer match. When you’re on the field, running and focused on the ball, it’s hard to see the full picture. You can’t always see every player, the open shot, or where the goalie is moving. Sometimes you don’t even realize how well you’re doing because you’re so focused on the next step in front of you.

That’s how life can feel. We get discouraged because we can only see one small part of the story, while God sees the entire field. He is opening doors, positioning people, and working out a greater plan even when we don’t recognize it.

Sometimes we look at other people’s lives and wish we had what they have, because we can see their game more clearly than our own. But maybe what we really need is to pause for a moment, step back, and look at life from a different perspective.

Life is beautiful and messy. No one has it all figured out, but we all have something to be thankful for if we stop long enough to see it.

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” — Psalms 103:2
