This week has been both beautiful and incredibly difficult.

We’ve spent the past several days working alongside an amazing team of medical professionals and local doctors, traveling into villages where access to medical care is extremely limited.

We’ve watched people hear again. We’ve given glasses that helped people see again. We’ve provided wound care, dental and ear care, blood pressure treatment, medications, and so much more.

And we have seen so many cases of malaria. We’ve been able to provide treatment that has saved lives, treatment many of these patients otherwise may not have received.

But the need is overwhelming.

Each day we are treating hundreds of patients, and each day we are watching our medication supply get lower. We have already stretched and sacrificed to purchase more medicine here in Malawi, but there are still people waiting.

Right now, I’m sitting in the middle of a village watching patients being treated. I can see the medicine going out, and I can see the people still waiting to be seen.

We need your help.

If you are able to make a one-time donation today, it will help us purchase more medication, including desperately needed malaria treatment, and continue caring for the people in front of us.

Seeing this firsthand moves me to tears, but it also pushes us to keep going.

Holding a precious little one like this reminds me why we keep going. Why we keep sharing the stories. Why we keep telling you what’s needed next.

Far too many mothers and babies in Malawi lose their lives simply because they don’t have access to safe maternity care. But together, we are changing that.

To everyone who has given toward our maternity hospital- thank you! We are still raising the funds needed to put the roof on and keep moving toward opening these doors.

Please don’t stop. Keep giving. Keep sharing. Keep spreading the word.

There is so much happening at Akonda Ministries right now, and our hearts are so full! ❤️🇲🇼

We are in a sweet season of welcoming and hosting different groups here in Malawi, and we truly love every minute of it. Getting to share Malawi, the people we love, and the work God is doing here with others is such a gift.

When you choose to come, it is a blessing to us. There’s just something special about seeing it all for yourself, meeting the people, experiencing the culture, serving alongside our team, and getting a firsthand look at the work you help make possible.

If you’ve never been to Malawi to see the work you pray for, give toward, and support, you really should make a plan to come. ❤️

We would love to have you.

We believe there is a big difference between simply meeting a need today and giving someone the opportunity to change their future.

There’s an old saying:

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

That idea is at the heart of our Business Training Centers.

We don’t want to simply give handouts that meet a need for a moment. We want to empower people with the skills, tools, knowledge, and opportunity to change their own lives, and then help change their communities.

Our beekeeping program is a beautiful example of what that looks like. 🐝🍯

Students don’t just learn how to harvest honey. They learn the entire process: how to build the beehives, care for the bees, produce and harvest honey, sell their product, build a business, manage their money, and work together.

But it goes even deeper than business.

They are learning about discipleship, giving back, serving others, and using what they have learned to provide for their families and strengthen their communities.

That’s what empowerment looks like.

We could give someone a jar of honey.

Or we can teach them how to build the hive.

And now, when you buy Akonda honey, you become part of that story too. 🍯

You aren’t simply buying honey. You’re supporting people who are putting their training to work, building businesses, providing for their families, and creating opportunities that can impact an entire community.

We need you. ❤️

Not just once. Not just when there’s an emergency. We need people who are willing to stand beside Akonda Ministries month after month.

Because the work in Malawi doesn’t stop.

The medical compound continues serving patients. Schools need repairs and supplies. Students are being trained and equipped to start businesses. Prison ministry continues. Children and families need support. Churches are being reached. Communities are being developed. And our team continues walking alongside people every single day.

Consistent monthly support allows us to plan, respond, and keep moving forward. It gives us the ability to say YES when there is a need, not just when we have enough funds in that moment.

Recently we had the joy of visiting a children’s hospital and bringing a little encouragement and joy to the kids, their parents, and the incredible staff caring for them. ❤️

Sometimes a small moment of kindness can mean so much to someone who is walking through a hard day.

As we’ve been getting our kids settled back into school in the States, the school year is about to begin here in Malawi.

And I have 31 incredible students who need someone to stand behind them.

These students have worked exceptionally hard in school and, because of their grades, character, and dedication, they have been selected to attend better schools with amazing opportunities for their future.

They have earned this opportunity.

Now they just need a little support to get started… just like we prepare our own children for a new school year.
