And honestly… we get it. ❤️

From incredible mountains and breathtaking sunsets to beautiful lakes, green landscapes, and some of the warmest, most welcoming people you’ll ever meet, Malawi has a way of surprising you.

We’ve fallen in love with so much about this country, not just because of the ministry we get to be part of, but because Malawi is genuinely beautiful. 🇲🇼❤️

Today, we had the privilege of visiting the women’s prison, where we shared Bibles and spent a meaningful time encouraging the women with God’s Word.

One of the inmates beautifully expressed how receiving the Bible would strengthen their faith and make them stronger as they continue their journey.

She reminded us of Jesus’ words in the wilderness: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

It was a powerful reminder that even in difficult places, God’s Word can bring hope, strength, and renewed faith.

We may have entered the prison carrying Bibles, but we left reminded that God’s light can reach anywhere.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible through your prayers, generosity, and support. Because of you, God’s Word was placed into the hands of women who deeply desired it. ❤️

May His Word continue to strengthen every heart and bring hope where it is needed most.

Your support is making a difference. ❤️

Because of you, people in Malawi are receiving medical care, girls are gaining health education and supplies, children get to simply be kids, students are gaining skills and opportunities, the elderly are being cared for, and people are hearing the hope of Jesus.

So much happens behind the scenes that you may never see, but you are part of all of it.

And the work continues. We’re currently working toward completing an HIV care section at the hospital, and we still need $1,000 to make it possible. Please pray with us for God to provide what’s needed.

This week, we’ll also be delivering Bibles to a prison and continuing to meet needs at the hospital.

Thank you for believing in this mission, praying, giving, and helping us bring hope and practical help to people in Malawi. We are so grateful for you! ❤️

There are stories that continue to break our hearts, and honestly, we pray they always do.

We never want to become comfortable with suffering or learn to look away. Heartbreak should move us to action, and that’s what continues to drive our mission in Malawi.

Lately, the Lord has placed the HIV community heavily on our hearts. The more we hear their stories, the more our hearts break.

In Malawi, many people living with HIV are rejected by their families and communities. They’re often treated as outcasts, leaving them feeling unseen, unwanted, and without hope. Tragically, some become so overwhelmed by the rejection that they take their own lives.

But that’s not how Jesus sees them.

Jesus consistently moved toward the people everyone else pushed away. He touched those with leprosy, spoke with the woman at the well, and welcomed the forgotten with compassion, dignity, and love. We want to follow His example.

Right now, we have a small space on our medical compound dedicated to serving this community. While we hope to one day build a larger facility designed specifically for their care, we’re choosing to serve with what God has already provided. We’ve been working with our medical team to remodel this space so it can better meet their needs.

Today, we received a quote for the renovations and medical supplies needed, and we’re believing God to provide $1,000 to help make these improvements possible.

Did you know that Akonda Ministries partners with leaders in Malawi to improve the health and future of young girls?

In Malawi, the school attendance rate for girls drops dramatically once they reach middle school. Without access to basic menstrual hygiene supplies or a safe, private place to care for themselves, many girls miss school month after month. Eventually, they fall so far behind that they are forced to drop out.

This isn’t because they lack ability or determination. It’s because they were born into one of the poorest countries in the world.

We believe that shouldn’t determine their future.

At Akonda Ministries, we’re committed to standing alongside these girls, providing the resources, education, and support they need so they can stay in school, pursue their dreams, and build a brighter future.

Imagine if it were your daughter, your sister, or your friend. If she didn’t have what she needed and was forced to leave school, you’d do something to help.
