Serve locally and make a global impact.

The Kent School of Social Work and Family Science and the Kent Alumni Council are partnering with SOS International for a hands on service opportunity supporting global health.

SOS International collects and distributes medical supplies to communities around the world. During this volunteer event, participants will help sort and prepare essential medical supplies that will be sent to healthcare providers in need.

This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow Kent students, alumni, faculty, and staff while giving back in a meaningful way.

The event is free and one hour volunteer shifts are available.

A special limited-edition t-shirt will be made available, free with a donation of $35 or greater to the Kent School Priority Fund. Bracelets made by council members and available for donations of $10 or greater on campus only.

The Kent Alumni Council is excited to be part of the Raise Some L Kent School Cookout on October 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of food, connection, and community as we come together to support the Kent School.

The Alumni Council will be tabling at the event with Kent School swag available when you make a donation. Your support helps strengthen scholarships, programs, and student opportunities that continue to make our community thrive.

We look forward to seeing you there and raising some L together for a great cause.

Our Art of Our Mission Alumni Series is a chance to showcase the creativity and spirit of our alumni community. While we’re gathering in Louisville for the in-person event, we don’t want distance to keep you from being part of it.

If you live out of state and can’t attend, we’d love for you to join by creating a piece of art that reflects our mission—whether it’s a drawing, painting, collage, or any creative expression. Just snap a photo of your work and send it to us, and we’ll feature it alongside the in-person contributions.

This is your opportunity to add your voice to the series and help us celebrate the power of our alumni community, no matter where you are.

The Art of Our Mission

As part of our 90th anniversary celebration, the Kent School of Social Work and Family Science invites you to the second installment of The Art of Our Mission, a hands-on art-making experience co-facilitated by Dr. Lesley Harris and alumna Toya Northington ’18.

This session will use creativity as a tool for reflection, dialogue, and connection. No artistic experience is required.

Dr. Tish Brookins ’02 took the macro social work path at the Kent School of Social Work and Family Science - University of Louisville to lead change on a bigger scale and she hasn’t looked back. Now a professor and mentor to dozens of future changemakers, she’s tackling issues like chronic absenteeism and inspiring the next generation to lead with purpose. 📚
