We’re proud to have an incredible group of coaches dedicated to developing athletes on and off the court. Meet the coaches leading our Grizzly teams next season.

Emily grew up in Southern California playing club and high school volleyball at some of the best clubs in the area. She next attended Louisiana State University and play college club volleyball and intramural volleyball. Once graduating she quickly got into coaching as an assistant and then as a head coach in Colorado.

We’re proud to have an incredible group of coaches dedicated to developing athletes on and off the court. Meet the coaches leading our Grizzly teams next season.

Coach Janelle Bennett has over 20 years of coaching experience. She has coached every age from 6-18. In her younger days she played volleyball at Standley Lake High School and then went on to play intramural volleyball at the University of Northern Colorado. Janelle coached club volleyball for Westminster Juniors, Flatirons, Ballistic, VC Denver, and is now at Colorado Elite. She was the JV then Varsity coach at Jefferson Academy, coached middle school boys and girls volleyball at Woodrow Wilson Academy, and has now been the head varsity coach at Standley Lake High School since 2020. Since becoming the varsity coach at SLHS she has won the Jeffco 4A Coach of the Year and Standley Lake Head Coach of the Year awards and took the varsity team to the state tournament in 2025 for the first time in 33 years.

Coach Bennett has a Masters Degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Regis University and teaches 5th grade at Jefferson Academy Elementary School. She has been a teacher for 18 years and loves helping kids learn and grow. Janelle has been married for 13 years, and she and her husband have two children, Mia (11) and Micah (7). Mia is following in her mom’s footsteps and loves volleyball just as much as her mom; Micah enjoys playing soccer, football, and basketball. Coach Bennett enjoys crocheting, spending time with her family, and just relaxing in a recliner with a good book.

We’re proud to have an incredible group of coaches dedicated to developing athletes on and off the court. Meet the coaches leading our Grizzly teams next season.

Amber enters her second season at Colorado Elite with over 12 years of coaching experience in Colorado club volleyball and a strong background as both a player and coach. During the 2025–2026 season, she led 13 Kodiak to a Zelinkoff Bid Tournament berth while also assisting 16 Grizzly in earning a Nationals bid. Prior to Colorado Elite, Amber coached teams ranging from 13s to 18s, including a top-5 state finish and Division 1 competition.

In addition to club volleyball, Amber joined the Monarch High School coaching staff in 2025, helping lead the program to a 5A regional berth and regional win after a long postseason absence.

As a player, Amber competed in USAV RMR club volleyball for six years, appeared in three straight high school state championship matches, earned All-Conference honors, and played nationally for the University of Washington club team. She still competes today in adult indoor and sand volleyball leagues around Colorado.

Dana Burkholder brings a lifelong passion for high performance and holistic development to Colorado Elite. A former 2x First-Team All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year at the University of Arizona, Dana’s competitive career includes international play, national championships, and more than a decade of success as a club owner, director, and coach.

As Colorado Elite’s Director of Athlete Wellness and Director of Coach Success, Dana is dedicated to creating environments where players thrive both on and off the court, and where coaches are supported in their leadership and growth.

Through her platform Volleyball Village, Dana provides services for players, parents, and coaches—including performance mindset training, parent support tools, and coach development programs—that empower the entire volleyball community. She specializes in blending technical expertise with emotional intelligence, helping athletes build confidence, resilience, and clarity, while guiding coaches toward effective leadership, presence, and long-term career sustainability.

Dana’s vision is simple yet powerful: to shape not just strong athletes and coaches, but strong humans who carry the lessons of volleyball into every area of life.

The 2026–2027 Grizzly head coaches lineup is here 🔥

We’re proud to have an incredible group of coaches dedicated to developing athletes on and off the court. Meet the coaches leading our Grizzly teams next season.

Casie Baird comes to Colorado Elite after serving the last season as an assistant coach at the University of Colorado. Cassie previously spent 3 seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky. In 2024, she helped guide the Colonels to 21 wins and a trip to the ASUN Conference Tournament semifinals. Under her leadership, middle blocker Carson Ledford, outside hitter Sarah Mitchell and opposite hitter AG Vandagriff earned All-Conference honors.

Prior to her time at EKU, Baird served as director of volleyball operations at North Dakota from 2022–23.

A decorated student-athlete, Baird helped lead the University of Denver to four consecutive Summit League regular season and tournament titles, along with four NCAA Tournament appearances. She earned All-Summit League Honorable Mention honors in both 2015 and 2017 and was a 2017 Summit League All-Academic Team selection. She played in 394 sets for the Pioneers and led the team in service aces in two seasons, ranking top-100 nationally both years.

After college, Baird enjoyed a successful four-year professional career overseas, competing in top leagues in Switzerland, Portugal, Austria and Finland. She captained each of her pro teams and was honored multiple times as match MVP, including a standout season in Finland where she was named January Player of the Month and earned seven match MVPs.

Her coaching career has included time at both the club and collegiate levels. In addition to her collegiate coaching, Baird has worked with youth teams through Colorado Volleyball Association (CVA) and has been on staff at camps at Stanford, Denver, and with All-American Volleyball Camps.

A native of Indiana, Baird was a three-time First Team All-State selection and the 2014 Marion County Female Athlete of the Year in high school.

Baird earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from the University of Denver in 2018.
