Lane's Backpack Lane’s (Love and Nutrition Enclosed) Backpack is a program providing food to children sponsored by the Louisiana Ministerial Alliance.

The program works with the Louisiana Elementary School to provide a backpack filled with food on Fridays for children who struggle with food insecurity.

Happy New Year!

We're still around! Still serving about 100 kids a week at our local elementary school week in and week out. I'm terrible about remembering to post on this page regularly, but in case anyone is looking - yet again today we delivered 94 bags of food to students at Louisiana Elementary to get them through the weekend! :-)

These are strange times. Everything has changed, including school not being in session and how meals are being distributed to kids. But, since schools closed, LANEs has continued to provide bags of food to the students in our school district and will continue to do so through the end of the year.

Currently, and this situation is fluid, they are available when weekly meals are picked up at school on Fridays for all who could use them. We're providing 200 bags a week.

Our kids here in Louisiana are out of school. They are picking up breakfast and lunches each day at specific locations. The lanes bags will be available on Friday at those locations that families will be picking their lunches.
Lunch can be picked up from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at these locations. Come up to the school bus to receive your bags with your lunch.

○ Abel’s Parking Lot @ 54 and 4th Street
○ 7th Street and North Carolina Street
○ 22nd @ the Scout House
○ Mary’s Street and Georgia (old grocery store parking lot)

The extra two weeks of school because of all the snow days necessitated some final shopping to insure we have food to last through the end of the school year!

Oh yeah, we have a page. Easy to forget! Things are going great. We received some very generous end of the year donations and will continue to provide bags of food to our elementary school children following the holidays. Merry Christmas everyone!
