PCMH EMS and Emergency Department staff recently had the opportunity to participate in hands-on training with the University of Missouri’s Mobile Simulation Lab!
Thanks to grant funding, the MU Sim Truck travels across the state delivering high-fidelity, real-life training to healthcare teams, and we were lucky to have it stop right here in Pike County. Using a state-of-the-art mannequin capable of simulating real medical emergencies, our EMS and Emergency Department teams worked to sharpen critical thinking, communication, and teamwork in high-pressure scenarios.

This kind of training helps ensure that when every second counts, we’re ready.

Huge thanks to the University of Missouri and the mobile sim lab team for supporting rural healthcare agencies lik

EMS Week 2025 has come to a close, but our gratitude remains!

Last week, we took time to honor and celebrate the incredible professionals of the Pike County Memorial Hospital EMS Department—the heart of our emergency response system.

Day and night, in every kind of weather, our EMS crews were there when it mattered most—bringing critical care, calm under pressure, and compassion to every call. From responding to emergencies in our rural communities to providing life-saving care en route to the hospital, their commitment never wavered.

To our paramedics and EMTs: thank you for your unwavering service, strength, and heart. You make Pike County a better place every single day, and we are so proud of the work you do.

Though EMS Week has ended, our appreciation lasts all year.

PCMH EMS had so much fun building an obstacle course for Healthy Kid’s Day today!
We saw kids jumping, crawling, and racing their way through — all smiles, no collisions!

Even some of our staff couldn’t resist giving it a try (and had just as much fun as the kids!).

It was awesome to see everyone moving, laughing, and having a blast.

Thanks for letting us be part of your day, and remember: staying active can be this much fun!!

Just a reminder: our ambulances are standing by in case you go a little too hard on the chocolate bunnies, jellybeans, or Aunt Carol’s questionable deviled eggs.

Whether you’re egg hunting, ham eating, or just pretending to like Peeps, we hope your day is egg-cellent and drama-free (unless it’s the good kind—like family bingo feuds).

We’re here if you need us—no bunny does it better!

Learn CPR & Save a Life!

Pike County Memorial Hospital is offering American Heart Association CPR Training for individuals and groups! Whether you need certification for work or just want to be prepared in an emergency, we can teach you the life-saving skills you need.

Why is CPR important?

Immediate response saves lives: CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival if performed immediately after cardiac arrest.

Empower yourself: Knowing CPR gives you the confidence to act in emergencies, whether at home, work, or in public spaces.

Help when every second counts: In the event of a heart attack or stroke, CPR provides critical time until medical help arrives.

Don’t wait until it’s too late—be the difference in someone’s life!

In 2024, the Pike County EMS team showed up with kindness, care, and expertise, responding to just shy of 3,000 of calls for service. Through every storm and every quiet night, they stood ready.

Pike County EMS continues to provide community support, training, and strong relationships with other first responders in the county to always be ready for whatever emergency they may encounter.

As we step into 2025, we celebrate their selflessness and wish you a year of love, laughter, and well-being.
