Lawrence County KY Humane Society/Open Arms Shelter Our goal is to reduce the over breeding of dogs and cats through spay/neuter assistance programs as well as public education programs.

The Lawrence County Humane Society is a non-profit organization established in 1990 for the purpose of preventing cruelty to animals, relieving pain and suffering among animals and extending humane education. The only regular funding the humane society has are donations and fund raisers to pay for all the shelter operating costs including veterinary bills.

Young kittens are so fragile. There are so many risks when a feral or stray cat is trying to raise them outdoors. Hypothermia, feline diseases, infections, parasites, fleas, hypoglycaemia, dehydration... just to name a few. Please spay and neuter your pets!

Cold weather will be coming soon! It’s time to prepare shelters for outdoor cats. And remember to always use straw – never hay or blankets.

✔️ Straw is warm, dry, and insulating.
❌ Hay gets damp and moldy.
❌ Blankets hold moisture and can freeze.

Help keep community cats safe this winter! 🐱❤️
