Earth Day
Hey folks! Since today is Earth Day, April 22nd, we thought we woyld post a fun activity that you can do at home with your kiddos this...

Craft time is always our favorite time, and there are lots of things you can create at home by recycling. You can use household recyclables to create art projects, bird feeders, planters, or decorative items. This teaches children about reusing materials and reducing waste.

If you have any ideas, feel free to share them with us!

Congratulations to Taylor for earning his GED today!

Taylor started with us just last week and passed all of his GED Ready tests immediately! He spent this past week brushing up on his social studies and math so he could be ready for testing days. He passed all his official GED exam module over two days of testing and now has earned his high school equivalency.

Taylor says he now feels, “happy and relieved to have finally come down to the learning center and completed my GED testing.” Taylor was curious if would even be able to do it and was very surprised when he passed all of his tests without much preparation at all. Taylor dropped out when he was 16 to stay home and care for his sick mother. Now that he has his diploma, he plans on enrolling at ACTC to get his Associates in Science and become a park ranger.

Taylor would like to thank, “all the nice people down here at the Lawrence County Adult Education Center for having confidence in me and helping along the way with anything I needed.”

To other GED seekers out there, here is Taylor’s advice: “Don’t be worried or have doubts in yourself. Get down here and get your GED today!”

Congratulations to Vanessa for earning her GED today!

Vanessa started with us about a little less than a month ago. To her surprise, she passed all of her tests very quickly and was able to begin taking official GED exams right out of the gate. She has now earned her GED in a little less than 4 weeks thanks to our on-site GED mobile testing! We offer official GED testing right here at our learning center every other Thursday (by appointment).

Vanessa feels “proud and happy” now that she has her GED. She decided to begin the GED process because education became more important to her, and she knew that getting her high school equivalency was the first step to furthering herself. As for what’s next, Vanessa says, “I hope to expand on my education and become a certified phlebotomist or registered nurse.”

To other GED seekers out there, Vanessa advice is, “Don’t let negative thoughts ruin perfectly good opportunities.” Great advice from our newest grad!

Congrats to Chris for earning his GED today!

Chris started with us in January, and at the time, wasn’t really sure if getting his GED would happen. He bought in to the process though, and consistently kept showing up for class 3-4 days a week. He made it his mission to work and master one test at a time, and with this mindset, he was able to pass every single GED Ready test and official GED exam module over the course of three months. Today, after a month and a half of intense, fast-paced math study, he passed his final math GED test. Not only that, but now his math GED score is higher than any other subject.

Chris says he feels happy now that he has earned his GED. He says, “I never thought it would happen.” He made up his mind to get his GED so that, “I could set an example for my kids and also get a better job.” Chris says he dropped out because he thought he was too cool for school back then, but now he has his sights set on bettering himself and getting his CDLs.

Chris would like to thank his teachers at Lawrence County Adult Education for helping him with his instruction. To other GED seekers out there, Chris says, “Don’t give up! Keep trying!”
