We, the women who volunteered to serve the United States of America as members of the Navy Nurse Corps, the Yeoman (F), the Navy Women, the Women Marines, and the Coast Guard Women, have joined together to form WAVES National, an organization for women veterans, to uphold and defend the constitution; to bring together all women who have served and are serving in our sea services; to provide assist

ance to all women veterans with special emphasis on the needs of those who are homebound, in veterans hospitals or nursing homes; to foster and encourage patriotism in the young women of today and offer them guidance towards serving in the armed forces of our country; to have a opportunity to meet and share our history and traditions while enjoying the camaraderie of each other; to remember, with respect and honor, our departed shipmates, whose names and memories remain forever on our rolls, though their faces have vanished from our midst; to join ever in reverent tribute to all those who gave their utmost in defense of our way of life; to continue, in war and peace, in the noble tradition set by our predecessors; and for those purposes.
