Loudon Name Origin: Scottish, which also means, Low Hills, low hills in Gaelic. Original Grantor: John Campbell, 4th of Loudoun,
-Born May

5th of 1705. Died, April, 27th of, 1782.
-Was a very noble British man and Army officer. Inherited the peerage on the death of his father in 1731 becoming Lord Loudoun.

1773: On January, 23rd, 1773, the town of Loudon, NH, was incorporated and named in Campbell's honor. Native American History:

1740-1750: Two Native American Chiefs, Sabbaday and Plawsawa, occupied Sabbaday Heights (which today is called Loudon Ridge). The tribe chose to keep their headquarters near "The Great Rock" in the field of David. J French, near his present dwelling house.


1753- Sabbaday and Plawsawa were followed and killed, while they were intoxicated in the woods by two settlers. The settlers were arressted and taken to Portsmouth where they were indited and jailed. However, other settlers gathered around the jaile with axes and other weapons and broke them free. Would you like to find out more about these men? and more history?
