Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary JBWS's mission is to increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of estuarine ecosystems. It includes over 1600-acres and 12 miles of trails.

Welcome to the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary page managed jointly with the Friends of Jug Bay - a non-profit organization that acts to preserve the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary and support its education and research programs. The Sanctuary is operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, and is a component of the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Maryland. Habitats include forest, meadow, and one of the largest freshwater tidal wetlands on the East Coast. We welcome public visitors from 9am-5pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There are a few spaces left for our next Birds & Brew program tomorrow from 9:30am to 10:30am. Join a naturalist for this FREE program that invites you to have a cup of bird-friendly coffee on the Observation Deck while we observe the different birds migrating through Jug Bay this Fall.
