One in six American children may be struggling with access to food. Since 2009, Blessings in a Backpack has provided 23.5 million hunger-free weekends (aka bags of ready-to-eat food) for more than 838,000 children nationwide, including students at Los Ranchos Elementary.

New Mexico leads the nation in childhood hunger with nearly 1 in every 4 New Mexico children experiencing food insecurity.

The need is clear, which is why each Friday during the school year, Los Ranchos Elementary School’s Blessings in a Backpack program sends home bags of kid-friendly food with children who are at-risk of experiencing hunger. These food bags fill the weekend nutrition gap so students can return to school Monday feeling nourished and ready to learn.

$120 feeds a child in the program for an entire school year. We can’t do it alone and would love your support to make a difference in the life of those in need!
