Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers - CCCMB

Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers - CCCMB The mission of CCCMB is to expand the network of sustainable and enjoyable trails in SLO County and to maintain the trails currently in use.

CCCMB began simply as a group of cyclists coming together out of concern about a proposed closing of one of the Central Coast's gems, Montaña de Oro State Park, to mountain bikes. In 1987, amid rumors about the impending closure, we met with State Park staff and volunteered to work to repair erosion problems thought to be associated with mountain bike use on the trails. Since that initial contact,

we've expanded our volunteer efforts to include many levels of trail maintenance and construction. As a direct result of our work, trails are still open to cyclists at Montaña de Oro State Park and elsewhere in our region. In 1989, we decided to organize formally as the Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers (CCCMB). We did so to support and affiliate with the fledgling International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and to give ourselves a cohesive presence here on our Central Coast home. We follow land access issues and try to prevent problems from developing to the point of closure by working with land-managers and by offering positive suggestions and ideas.

As the weather starts to heat up, it’s important to remember how to stay safe out on the trails☀️

Whether you’re hiking, running, riding, or simply enjoying the outdoors, a little preparation can make all the difference:

💧 Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated
🌅 Start early or head out later to avoid peak heat
🐍 Stay aware of wildlife and your surroundings
🌿 Respect trail conditions and practice good trail etiquette
📍 Know your route and let someone know where you’re going

🚵 Trail Update from The Pismo Preserve!

Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers and The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County have been hard at work on Week 1 of a brand-new technical mountain biking bypass at Pismo Preserve!

Over the next 3 weeks, we’ll be building additional technical riding options alongside the existing Discovery Trail, creating more challenge and flow for mountain bikers while preserving the incredible experience for hikers, runners, and equestrians alike.

This project, along with recent berm improvements on Discovery and Panhandle Trails, is being completed entirely through volunteer-powered Thursday trail workdays. 💪

This Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we spend time outdoors with friends, family, and community this weekend, we’re grateful for the freedoms that allow us to enjoy these shared public lands and trails together.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and reflective Memorial Day weekend!
