They started the organization in April, 2011 to benefit the people of their native country by connecting our community in the Central Coast, to half way around the world with the purpose of giving. They are currently collecting "cast off" items in storage units located in Los Osos, California. CCFA shipped it's first shipment in September, 2011 filling a 40 fit container and shipped via ocean barg
e out of Long Beach, CA. They goal now is to continually fill these containers and ship them off as each one fills up. There are preparing to ship their next container in the next two months, as it is close to capacity. The items in need include: clothing, building goods, school supplies, tools, cooking materials, appliance, computers, appliances, musical instruments, bicycles, cell phones, and so much more! The idea stemmed when Augustine who started and ran a k-12 school in Nigeria for 30 years, came to the Central Coast of California to visit his son James. James Nwaizugbu works as a nurse at CMC and is currently attending USF in the masters nursing program to be completed in the Spring of 2012. Augustine was amazed by the amount of unwanted items being discarded on the streets and came up with the concept to relocate these wasted items to his hometown of Aba in Nigeria, Africa. The concept quickly turned into a reality as they gathered items with the support of the community and transported 4 large Uhuals to Los Angeles and shipped them off to be distributed to those in need in Nigeria in September of 2011. They are now gathering goods for the next shipment. They are asking for your help by contacting them when you have unwanted items that can be donated as long as they are clean, reusable, functional and repairable. Even if the item is broken, they will find a resourceful way to fix the item and bring it back to life. In addition to helping those in need, you will be helping our environment by saving another unwanted item from sitting in a land fill polluting our Earth. We are very blessed in our society to have access to new items at any given time. Unfortunately, this can cause us to discard items quickly that could easily be fixed or reused for another purpose. By contributing to CCFA, you are able to benefit two very important causes! Here is an article featured in the San Luis Obispo Telegram Tribune:
