The Art Docents of Los Gatos would like to thank our community for another beautiful school year! đź’™

We were honored to serve our students within the Los Gatos Unified School District, and what a year it has been!

Our dedicated docents shared their time, heart and creativity in bringing art to life through workshop and print presentations, Guest Artist programs, curriculum development, in-class instruction, and the always-beloved Art Show.

It takes a whole community to nurture young artists, and we are so grateful to be part of this wonderful organization.

Wishing everyone a joyful and restful summer. We can’t wait see you in the fall! 🌞

The Art Docents have been very busy these last few months preparing for the 51st annual Art Show, which begins next week!

Kudos to those docents who have put in so much of their time & energy to make this happen. Each student from the Los Gatos Union School District has created a piece that will be on display. It has taken incredible effort to collect & mount 3,000 pieces of student artwork. This is a LOT of art to mount! 👏

The art show will be open to the public during the Fisher Middle School Open House, which is Thursday, April 30, 5-7 PM. 🖼️

We’re still thinking about the impact and inspiration from Tara Gill’s recent visit as a guest artist to our R.J. Fisher Middle School.

Tara is an award-winning digital pattern artist and nature photographer based in the Bay Area. She shared how she transforms everyday plant elements into striking, symmetrical designs - a powerful reminder that creativity often begins with simply paying closer attention to the world around us.

She also spoke openly about her personal journey and how her life experiences have shaped her growth as an artist, offering students a meaningful look at the connection between life and creative expression. Her work is installed in healthcare spaces across the Bay Area, bringing art into environments that support healing and well-being.

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders got a glimpse into her process, her inspiration, and how art can evolve from observation into something entirely new.

During lunch, the entire school joined in for a hands-on demo, creating their own patterns using natural materials like flowers, leaves, and twigs — and they created some truly amazing patterns and artwork.

Experiences like this stay with students, shaping how they see the world and their own creativity.

Thank you, Tara , for inspiring our students 🌿

The Art Docent program in the month of March is all about creativity through collage 🎨

This month, our second graders explored the vibrant world of Romare Bearden, an artist known for telling powerful stories through layered paper, textures, and bold compositions.

After learning about his life and artistic style, students dived into their own collage workshop with cutting, arranging, and creating unique pieces that reflect their imagination and personal stories.

It’s always amazing to see how each child interprets the same inspiration in completely different ways.

Art isn’t just about making something beautiful… it’s about expression, storytelling, and discovering your own voice.

Creativity is love made visible.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible Art Docents who bring creativity, patience, and heart into our classrooms every single week.

You give your time, your energy, and your passion so students can experience the joy of making art. You nurture confidence, curiosity, and self-expression, and that kind of love leaves a lasting mark.

We are so grateful for each of you. đź’•
