We truly appreciate all the pet owners, animal welfare organizations, pet sitters, and veterinarians across the US who have shared our resources to encourage pet owners to plan for the possibility that our pets might outlive them. 📬 USPS now applies postmarks at regional facilities and may require several days to be processed. This means that gifts mailed in late December may not be postmarked until January. Under IRS guidelines, charitable gifts must be postmarked by December 31, 2025 to qualify for a 2025 tax deduction.

To ensure your gift is recorded for 2025, skip the drop-off boxes and go to the post office or donate online:

Since 2004, our all-volunteer nonprofit has provided free resources to help pet owners plan for the possibility that their pets might outlive them.

More than 500,000 pets are surrendered to shelters every year when their owners pass away or become too ill to care for them. Shelter overpopulation is at crises levels and our work is more important than ever.

Educating pet owners so fewer pets are surrendered to shelters, reduces the number of pets euthanized, alleviating the strain on overburdened animal welfare organizations, and providing peace of mind to pet owners.

Today is , a day to honor and thank all the brave people who have served and sacrificed for our country.

We also want to recognize and appreciate the special role that animals play in the military and in the lives of veterans.

Animals have been loyal companions, helpers, and heroes for soldiers throughout history, providing comfort, support, and protection.

Good news for pet owners! Freewill had made arrangements so 2nd Chance 4 Pets can continue to cover the cost of their online will, legal in 50 states. This program is a very important tool for pet owners allowing them to plan for the possibility that their pets might outlive them.

More than 500,000 pets are surrendered to shelters each year due to the death or disability of their owners who care for them.

Since 2004, our all-volunteer team has provided free resources to help pet owners plan for their pets. Identify a backup caregiver and make sure you have a plan.

2nd Chance 4 Pets will be ending our Freewill program on February 26 due to budget limitations. All online plans completed by February 26 will be covered through our program.

Please take advantage of our offer to cover the cost of your online will to ensure the lifetime care of your pets. More than 500,000 pets are surrendered to shelters every year simply because they outlived their owners. It's important now more than ever to establish a plan so your pets will always receive care, even if you are unable to provide that care.

All plans previously completed in the Freewill system will not be affected.
